Chapter 19: The End

“Dylan give me my toy!” Nelson yelled. The 6 year old looked at his cousin who was dangling the red plastic in the air like it was a prize.

“Make me.” Dylan said holding the toy higher in the air. Nelson may have been older, but Dylan was taller and more cunning, he knew how to get the toy from Nelson when he wasn’t looking.  Although he was small and cute, Dylan got his scheming and recklessness from both his parents and Nelson seemed to be babied all his life by his parents so he only knew one thing to do in a situation like this. Go get mom and dad.

So that’s just what he did. He stomped out of the room and went to the stair case and yelled up, “Mommy Dylan took my toy again.” At first there was no reply, than a few seconds later there was footsteps moving down the stairs till I peered over the railing.

“Baby what’s wrong?” I asked, now completely descending the stair case and walked over to the 6 year old and crouching in front of him. “Dylan took my truck.” He said. I looked back at the room where the other 6 year old was walking towards us with the toy.

He knew he was going to get in trouble so he came over and gave the red truck back to him. Abby came downstairs next. “What happened?” she looked to me for the answers. “Your son took Nelsons toy; again.” She looked at the guilty child and walked over to him.

She started talking to him in hushed whispers we couldn’t make out. He nodded and mumbled, “Yes mummy,” under his breath multiple times. She moved away and the child walked up to the other and apologized. Nelson looked at the apologetic child and huffed. “Whatever.” I nudged him. “Nelson,” I warned sternly. He sighed, not looking back at him mumbled an I’m sorry that was too low to understand, but it was an improvement.

We scooted them back to the living room and walked back upstairs saying a few words to each other on kids and manners. At least they didn’t have IPhones or IPads and electronical toys to play with like some spoiled brats now a day have. We made sure our kids had the same stuff we had to play with growing up.

We returned to the bed room where we found the little 8 year old sitting on the bed while her uncle Dan sat on his knees behind her curling her hair. She smiled as I walked back into the room.

After Dylan was born Dan starting getting interested in hair and beauty so he went to school to become a hair stylist and he is still in school no and working toward graduating within a year so Bliss was always having him do her hair all fancy and pretty. He loved trying new things and her hair was so easy to work with he couldn’t help but not say no to her.

“Girly your hair is looking curlrific.” He said bouncing one of her curls. “Danny that’s not even a word.” Abby said strolling over to the bed and sitting next to him. “B-but I want it to be a word.” He said burying his face in her newly straightened hair he had finished earlier. She patted his head as if saying ‘there, there.’ He pulled up his head and grabbed the child’s hair in front of him and wrapped it in the curling iron.

“Bliss baby you look beautiful,” I said coming over and sitting next to her. “Thanks mommy. Can I have my hair done like this for my birthday next week Dan-Dan?” he smiled at the back of her head.

“Of course you can baby.” she smiled. That’s what she called her uncle Dan, Dan-Dan. She called her aunt Abby’ Abes. She had a little nickname for those in her life. Her little brothers’ name is Ne-Ne, and she calls Dylan, Dal. She likes to make everything short and cute.

She started using cute nicknames for people after her grandma and her new husband started calling each other little nicknames and bliss wanted to play too so she started on with that. Today my mom is happily married and no I don’t have a little brother or sister on the way. I’m happy for her, she found happiness like I did.

Bliss’s 9th birthday was coming up and Dan has been trying out new hair styles on her so she can pick the one she likes best and have her hair done that way. I heard the soft yelling of Nelson running after his father who had just come home from work. I smiled and got up and walked out the doorway and down the hall to the newly constructed wood tile floored staircase.

The house was beginning to become old and creaky so we had the wood pulled up and had the place refurnished and redone and it has a new sense of home and happiness in the air.

Walking down the stairs I find the small child hugging his father who had emerged from the open door way and was now embracing the panting child who had run from the family room with open arms. He held the child there and pulled back and kissed him on the forehead. “Hey buddy what are you doing?” he asked. The child held up the red truck he was playing with.

“Oh fun. I’ll play with you later buddy that looks like so much fun and I wanna play, but I have to go kiss your mommy.” He said smiling. The child shook his head enthusiastically and went back into the room and resumed playing with his little cousin.

Chaos walked over to me with a bit of a sexy stride and pulled me into his arms and looked at me smirking and placed a small peck on my lips. “Well hello there.” I said and wrapped my arms around his neck and pulled him in for another kiss. “Ew.” We turned and saw our curled hair 8 year old at the top of the stairs.

“Hey there beautiful did Uncle Dan curl you hair this time?” he asked moving towards the end of the stairs? She nodded her hair and as she did her curls bounced. She began running down the stairs and jumped into her daddy’s arms, which were out in the open and just waiting for her.

He held her close to his chest and she hugged him tightly. I walked over and hugged the two cuties and soon I felt two arms wrap around my legs. I looked down to my cute little son holding tightly on to me. “Mommy?” he asked holding his arms up obviously wanting to be held. I reached down and picked him up and we all joined in one big hug.

We heard footsteps coming down the stair case and we heard Dan yell out “Group hug!” and we heard Chaos reply, “No.” he stopped and frowned. I looked over at him. He was pouting and stuck his bottom lip out. “Daddy!” Dylan came running out from the family room dropping the blue car he had in his hand and ran over to hug his father.

“Aww hi baby.” he said holding the small child. “Hey he’s mine too, share.” Abby said. He looked back at her. “No mine!” and he took off running with the child in his arms. “Oh no you don’t.” she ran after him with the giggling child in his fathers arms as they chased each other around.

Chaos looked at me. “Craziest family ever.” He said. I smiled at him “Oh yeah, but I wouldn’t want it any other way.” I smiled at the crazy life I had and smiled to the future that was going to get even crazier.
