Chapter 6: surprise! I’m not gay!

“You’re what!?” I yell at the top of my voice.

I blinked with anger in my eyes down at Dan. “I I don’t know if I’m gay.” He said.

“How the held o you not know?” I asked.

“I’m still confused with it.” Something in his eyes made it clear that I had hurt his feelings.

I sighed. It was just 5 minutes that he had come over and I had taken him to the kitchen to make him some hot chocolate, because it was getting very cold outside now and as I started he stuttered that he had something to tell me. “I-I’ve been thinking and I really don’t think I’m gay.” He said.

I was holding an empty glass cup which slipped out of my hand and crashed on the floor. Everything that was made of glass keeps breaking around me. First the glass table when Dan proposed to me and now the cup. Jeez I probably have a sign around my neck that reads ‘health hazard; for everyone and herself.’

He was just looking at the floor as if he was going to cry. I felt sorry for him. I had hurt his feelings and it’s like I’m not there for him. I walked over and hugged him and he hugged me tightly and I’m pretty sure he was crying.

 Suddenly the kitchen door opened and Chaos came flying in. “What happened? Who’s hurt? I heard something crash and someone yell! Please tell me I don’t have to call 911!” he said walking/running over to me then stepping in the glass.

He stopped. Picked his foot up and removed the shard from his foot and set it on the counter. “This is yours.” He said holding his now bleeding foot. “Oh baby.” I said going over to him and helping him get to the table on one foot. I went over and got a wet washcloth and came back holding it to his foot. “Are you okay?” I asked sitting next to him. “I would if my liquids weren’t trying to escape.” He said holding his foot.

“Sorry I dropped the glass I was with Dan and he told me he wasn’t- gay really.” I said. He looks at me like I’m crazy. “Yeah that is cup dropping worthy.” He said. He looked up at Dan. “Hey man she’s mine don’t even think about it.” He said. Dan had been wiping tears from his eyes and was nodding.  I walk over to him and hug him.

“The worst part is I think I like Abby.” He said. This was really a cup dropping worthy day. “How I-I mean I just got her a boyfriend and- I don’t understand how do you like her?” I ask. He shrugs. “We were in the car on our way back from the store on Chaos’s birthday and we were in the car and she just looked very attractive and-.” He cut off. He took a breath and sighed. “- I kissed her.” He said.

I couldn’t believe this. I mean him not being gay is okay for me to understand, but him liking Abby? She’s my best friend. We just got her a boyfriend and I don’t think I feel okay about Dan liking her. I mean if your ex told you he likes your best friend yeah your gonna be pissed.

I felt as if I couldn’t breathe. I felt everything around me start turning black and it all began faded away and the air suddenly disappeared. I heard someone start calling my name but I couldn’t really tell. I felt myself fall over and black out.

I woke up and I was in bed. I looked up and saw bliss lying on my chest fast asleep. “She was worried about you and refused to leave so she made herself comfortable.” Chaos was in the bed next to me. “Is your foot okay?” I asked meekly. He nodded then showed me that he had it bandaged. I nodded. “Were is Dan?” I asked holding bliss properly on the bed now. “He left after we got you upstairs. I think he cried as he left. He was really scared when you passed out and we got you upstairs.” He said.

I sighed and ran my hand over my hair. “I need to apologize to him.” I said. He nodded. “I picked up the glass before anyone else got hurt.” He said I nodded. He pulled me over to him. “I’m sorry.” I said. “You have nothing to be sorry for.” He said. “I freaked out on Dan and I just probably made him feel worse.” I said. “You can worry about him tomorrow. Tonight you need to rest. I love you.” He turned the bedroom light off and I held bliss closer to my chest looking at my baby. “I love you too.” I said and closed my eyes to a guilty sleep and snoring in my ear. Guess I deserve it.
