Somewhere in the corner of an apartment in Brooklyn, Sergeant Barnes woke up with a gasp. Sweat dripping across his forehead and his chest heaving, gasping for breath. He stayed there for a moment and grasped his thin blanket. Shutting his eyes desperately, he realized he could not bring himself to sleep again, how could he? When the legend and identity of the Winter Soldier were buried deep inside him, while the ghost was still haunting his dreams. The dreams were his memories. He refused to believe it wasn't his fault, they weren't his memories. The memories were a broken part of the Winter Soldier, that would help him. Help him find redemption. Make him free

Forgiveness was still new to Barnes. He still flinched when small kids would run next to him giggling as if the world was normal again. As if he was someone they could trust completely. Hell, he didn't still trust himself completely. Everybody had their own demons. Their inner demons, may they be toxic traits or the fact that they would never be as good as someone else. Everybody had their demons. But Bucky Barnes was different.

Oh, he had demons. Of course, he had demons. But the problem was, he still thought of himself as a demon. Even if he got a new one, a new prosthetic arm that was beautiful, and did not hold any of his past memories, he was still ashamed to show it. No, he was afraid to show it. Afraid to be himself. He did not like to acknowledge that part of himself. Embrace it. But someday he had to. He had to.

He had to face the fact that the metal arm, was a part of him.

A part that he would hold on to.

Maybe the demon he should be facing is denial.

Face denial, and accept. Maybe, just maybe; he'll be able to sleep.

"It's time you let go."

"What do you mean?"

"Fury doesn't seem to want to be found. Leave him be. You'll never get to him even if you got the best team from the whole earth."

"Oh, I'll find him. You wanna bet?"

"Darling, when Fury doesn't want to be found, whatever the fuck you do, he'll never be found."

Alia Becker scoffed as the department still worked relentlessly. They just won't listen. She rolled her eyes and got into the elevator. She smiled sarcastically at the Secretary of State, as the elevator dinged while closing the doors. "Well?" Alia shook her head, and rolled her head.
"I don't get it, Hill. It's like they like to fail." she said, bored. She heard Maria Hill laugh on her comms. "What!? I don't get how you handled these people."
