James wasn't the type to show affection openly. He preferred to keep his feelings tucked away, far from public eyes. The gang was at the mall, wandering from store to store, and Zoey's eyes lit up the moment she spotted a plushie shop.

"I'm gonna buy that!" she exclaimed excitedly, her eyes locked on a particular stuffed animal in the display.

But before she could take a step toward it, Rose grabbed her arm, pulling her back. "No way, Zoey. You've already spent way too much today," Rose scolded, half-amused.

Zoey pouted, crossing her arms like a little kid. "Please, just one more! It's so cute!" she whined, her voice filled with desperation, hoping to sway Rose.

Unbeknownst to her, James was nearby, listening quietly, his usual indifferent expression betraying nothing. He didn't say a word but took note of the plushie Zoey had her heart set on.

The next day at school, Zoey approached her locker like any other day, ready to grab her books. But when she opened it, her eyes widened. Inside was the very plushie she had been whining about at the mall. Her heart skipped a beat as she noticed a small note attached to it.

Here's the plushie you wanted. Why were you whining at the mall? It's embarrassing. Next time you want something, just tell me.

— James

A smile crept across her face as she hugged the plushie to her chest. Without hesitation, she ran to James's classroom. When she spotted him sitting at his desk, she dashed over and wrapped her arms around him from behind.

James stiffened at the sudden contact, turning to her with a slightly annoyed expression. "What are you doing here?"

Zoey ignored his tone and kissed his cheek, her voice soft as she whispered, "Thank you, James. I love you."

James averted his gaze, trying—and failing—to hide the blush creeping up his cheeks. He grumbled, "Hmm, whatever," but the corner of his mouth twitched, betraying the slightest hint of a smile.
