"Why can't this darn thing just remain silent?"

I take out my phone out of the pocket and look at the screen. Mum. She just left. Why would she call me again? Sliding my finger across the screen, I put the phone to my ear.

"What took you so long to pick up?"

Long? Is she kidding me? I picked up within five seconds.Letting out an annoyed breath, I try to control my anger.

"What do you need?"

"I just realized that I left my bag in my room. Our tickets, money.. it is all in there. I need it. Bring them to the airport. Fast."

"What? You want me to go the airport? Now?"

"Didn't you hear the first time? Yes. Come to the airport. Now."

"Ugh!! Fine. I'll be there as fast as I possibly can." Without letting her say anything else, I end the call.

Pissed. That was a perfect word to describe me at the moment. I rush to her room and seek out the aforesaid bag. It was lying there on top of the bed. Probablyenjoyingmyannoyance, I wonder.

Letting out an inward sigh, I pocket my wallet and phone. I wear my shoes and go out, locking behind the door.  Hailing a cab from the main road didn't prove to be much time taking. I was able to reach the airport in a matter of twenty minutes. Fast. Phew!

I pull out my phone and ring up my mum as I pay the cabbie. She picks up on the first ring and starts to speak even before I could get a word in.

"What is taking you so long, huh? Where areyou? I ask you to do one thing and you can't even do that properly!"

Biting back my annoyed replies, I take in a deep breath. Mum alwaysput me on edge.

"I'm here. At the airport. Where are you?"

"Go to the first gate. Dad is waiting for you there."

With that, she simply cut off the connection.

I make my way to the gate and sure enough , he was standing there. Waiting for me, impatiently as he strode up and down the aisle.

I reach him and hand him the bag. He takes it and turns around to go back, without even uttering a single thankyou. Heck, he didn't even acknowledge my presence.

I stand there till I can't see the back of his head anymore, willing myself to not allow the tears to roll down.

Turning back, I hail another cab to go back home. I sit at the back, exhausted.

I just want to take Bloom in my arms and cuddle her. It has become pretty clear to me today that my parents couldn't care less about me. It was only their job that mattered to them.

Not me. Nottheirowngoddamndaughter.

At least I have Bloom waiting for me back in the house, I think and allow myself a little smile.

____

"Bloom, I'm back!" I say happily as I reach toward the basement. I see that the door there is open. I don't know why but my heartbeat increases. I run down the steps as fast as I can.

But on going down, I see that Bloom isn't there.

I stand there, stunned. Too surprised to even move a muscle.

Bloom.

She wasn't where she was supposed to be.

Tears well up in my eyes and I am soon crying.
