hi! welcome to my first book, « typography » editing tips! ✧˚·

i'm som, xiasedithelp, or @/qinglegends on instagram! if you're interested in learning more about me and my many accounts, go check out the carrd in my bio <3 (i spent ages on it so please go look at it anyways🙏🏼)

in this book, i'll be posting tips, examples, and resources to improve your typography! these are just things i've learned over time, but i'm still a student myself, so a lot of these tips are just personal preferences i often use in my edits and designs.

there will be 3 different parts to this book (each with several sub-chapters):

i. ༉ ˚ BACKGROUND

ii. ༉ ˚ TIPS

iii. ༉ ˚ RESOURCES

iv. ༉ ˚ FONT REQUESTS

┌── •✧• ──┐

in background, you'll find general information about typography that can be researched, but i've just compiled what i've found and learned here so it's easy to access for everyone (and myself, too lol).

in tips, this will have my personal tips and preferences that i've gained from experience! this will be the longest portion of this book (it'll be constantly updated with new things, especially over the summer because i'm taking a graphic design typography and image course!).

in resources, i'll be uploading my favorite typefaces, most used, recommended, etc. and resources you can use to find your own favorites + put them to use :) i'll also be publishing a requests column if you'd like personalized font packs. this will also include separate edit examples you can use for text inspiration!

in font requests, the title is self-explanatory! this is where you can make requests for fonts, and under the header chapter will be chapters filled with your font requests once i start getting on them. this will likely be an empty header for a brief period, though.

if you guys see anything you like, such as fonts, feel free to ask me about it or just directly use it! just one thing to remember: please give proper credit if you take any specific elements from the example edits and use them in your own! specific elements being a unique blending choice, edit style, etc. that are distinctly unique to my work. if you're not sure, though, don't be afraid to ask me, i'll prob be okay with it but i just want a little heads up :)

note: i first started drafting this book a little over a year ago, so i'm now inactive on @/qinglegends (junior year things... 😭), but my account is still up and i get notifications, so don't hesitate to tag me in your posts or inspo credits in caption so i can see all of your lovely creations <3

thank you for reading this introduction—i'm so happy you're here, and i hope you enjoy this book!!

love, som
