Bonus Chapter 1

Cypher's POV

I opened y/n's window and came into the room. She was sleeping, good. Usually, I would change my clothing first in my room, sneak into her room then join her in the bed but today, I just returned from a mission, from Bind again.

"haaah..." I let out a quiet sigh.

It always damaged me from inside whenever I returned from Bind. They sucked my city dry, take my family away and they even did that to my love, y/n. If Brimstone would allow it, I could literally destroy the entire organization. I had so many bad memories from Bind alone. It's my hometown but it ironically gave me bad vibes. But, if that didn't happen to Bind, maybe I wouldn't become an agent and I wouldn't be able to meet y/n.

"my dear.."

I looked at her. So beautiful even in her sleep. She looked so peaceful and I couldn't get enough of this scene. Her breathing was calm and I somehow mirrored her breathing tempo without noticing. She took steady breathing, I felt better because of that. Look, she even made me feel better without even waking up.

I went back to my memories. Y/n's rescue mission left a scar in my heart. I was happy that I could get her before it was too late. I didn't want to see her in that state again, I couldn't take it. I wanted to at least take her place instead, let me feel the pain as long as she's safe.

I heard rustling from the bed. Oh dear, I need to fix your blanket or else you'd catch a cold.

I closed the window where I came from. It was on the third floor but it's still easy for me to sneak up. I walked towards her then fixed the blanket, tucking her back in. She smiled when I did that, how sweet.

I reached out my hand then carress her cheek, I couldn't help it. She frowned a bit then slowly opened her eyes. Uh oh..

"ngh.. hm? Aamir?"

"I'm sorry, did I wake you up, my dear?"

She was still drowzy that she took long to speak up again. Maybe she thought she was still in her dream. She blinked then finally collected her souls. 

"you're not.. wearing your usual shirt. Did you just return from a mission?" she tried to sit up.

"just lay down, my dear. And yes, I just returned. I remember telling I got another mission going on today. It was going smooth," I gently pushed her back down.

"you didn't get hurt, right?"

"my camera got hurt,"

She smiled at the joke then took my hand, holding it tight.

"where was it?"

"Bind,"

Her expression changed. It was instant that she might've fully woken up. She looked worried because she understood that I had bad memories around Bind.

"do you want to talk about it?"

She knew I wasn't feeling well. I looked away, taking a deep breath as I saw my mask on the table, not too far from the window. I turned back at her then took off my coat. She moved a bit to the side, giving me a space to lay down. I sat down on the bed, still thinking wether I should vent my feelings or not.

"honey, I can't heal your hurting heart. But at least I can listen," she finally sat up then rubbed circles on my back.

That pierced my feelings. I usually would brush it off and just laid down beside her, looking for comfort. She would always say that but this time I felt it actually knocked some sense into me. I should tell her how I feel.

"my thanks.."

I gestured that I wanted to lay down. I didn't want her to sit, I wanted her to feel comfortable. I laid down next to her then pulled her close to me. She made herself confortable then rubbed her face on my chest, looking for warmth. The bed was already warm.

"so.. I was just contemplating my life. As promised, I revealed my past to you already. About my family, about Nora as well and.. about Bind,"

"she was your dearest wife and I respect her,"

I hugged her tighter.

"in the past, when I almost died, I met her in my dream. Because of that, I.. hurt you,"

"as you said, it's in the past, honey.."

"I know. Then I realized I couldn't move on from her because I didn't want you to go through the same pain. Because I thought if I get close to you, I would only bring misery.."

She pulled away, frowning at me.

"Aamir, please never say that again,"

"I- I'm sorry.."

She smiled then repositioned herself. Her face was right in front of mine. She pulled in, giving me a gentle kiss on my lips. I could never hold back when I got this little gift from her. I never got bored.

"you don't have to continue if you're not feeling it,"

"no, I want.. I want to share.." I hugged her again.

"I'll listen to you.."

"my dear, I'm grateful that you gave me the opportunity to be alive. Not just physically. For the first time after so long, I actually feel alive when I receive your love. You kept reaching your hands even though I hurted you. Then that incident happened, it still hurts to think about it. I don't want to remember but it was an important memory,"

"honey.. slow down.."

"yes.. thank you, my dear.." I kissed her forehead.

She was right, I needed to calm down and take a deep breath. Not only listening, she was making sure I was fine. I really love her.

"so.. I- I want to reflect on that to keep you safe. I promise, this time, I won't disappoint you. I'll protect you,"

"I always believe in you,"

"it might sound trivial, but I really wanted to say that for a long time,"

"it's never trivial when somebody really wants to dedicate themself to protect you,"

"ah.. y/n.. I'm grateful to have you. Thank you for letting me stay by your side.."

"yeah, my bed has enough space for you to sleep, so don't worry.."

I was dumbfounded, I didn't expect her to strike a joke.

"ahaha.. you little.." I pinched her nose.

"let's continue the conversation in our dream. We'll meet up at your favorite place if you want.."

"pffft.. my dear, stop.."

"I was telling you to sleep,"

"I can't, you just woke me up with those jokes. When did you learn that? You're usually angelic and graceful,"

"oh now I'm not graceful? Sleep on the floor, Cypher.."

"haha.. I'm sorry. Please don't push me down,"

"oh you're on the edge of the bed? Perfect,"

"wait wait.. please don't even consider it,"

"just wanna tease you.."

"I'm gonna punch Yoru for turning you into a comedian,"

"it's Kay/O actually,"

"what?"
