Elise Taa - A fourteen-year-old Idithry who's lived in confinement for months now on a mission that will save Tolken.
Fabien - An eight-year-old inhabitant of the Tower who taught himself the sleight of hand at a young age and is like a brother to El.
Faith - The deity that Tolkenians worship (also known as the Harbinger of Dawn), though a lot of Tolkenians think it is nonsense.
Fernos - Idithries with the power to control fire.
First Dawn - The beginning of Tolken.
Gatherer - A person who gathers medicinal herbs for a living.
Glacis - Idithries with the power to control water.
Grantis - Idithries with the power to control earthly objects.
Great Veil - The giant, reflective, obsidian surface that leads to the Netherworld.
Idith - Magic.
Idithry - A person who can wield magic.
Kathlin - A paranoid inhabitant of the Tower who has been named as the "Attic Witch" by El as she always stays in the attic. She is the only other person in the Tower who uses magic.
Netherworld - The world beyond the Veil (our world) in the Tolkenian language.
Sorcerers - The colloquial term for Idithries.
Tolken - The magical world Elise lives in.
The Tower - The five-storey house house El (who named the building as "The Tower") and six other people reside in.
Uncle Bens - An inhabitant of the Tower in his sixties, who is like an uncle figure to El.
Veilensor - A person who protects the Veil and prevents people from crossing it.
