This is sad guys. Just warning you, there isn't a happy ending. (Unless this gets enough attention and people want me to write one)
--She was everything to Yeji.
For that, the brunette would never let Ryujin go. She'd come home, everyday, excited to just talk to her in private. Excited to just see her. She thrived off of Ryujin, and the raven-haired had mutual feelings.
Mutual butterflies in her stomach. Mutual pounding heart. Mutual love.
They didn't admit it to one another, couldn't. Not with their profession. Deep down they both understood though. Didn't need words to be said to acknowledge the emotions spiraled in their heads.
"Ryujin, are you awake?" Yeji's voice came from the top bunk, she seemed sad, her voice shaky and quiet. Of course, Ryujin was awake then. She didn't need to answer the question to know what happened.
"Do you want to come down and talk about it?" Ryujin asked, getting no answer but the sound of shuffling covers and the creaky bunk structure. A whiff of aromatic shampoo before a cold body collided with hers under the sheets. Ryujin flinched a bit from the temperature.
"Sorry-"
"Don't apologize, you're so cold..." Ryujin paused, her arms wrapping tight around the brunette and pulling her closer. "Here, it's warmer this way."
Yeji sniffled, unknown if it was because of Ryujin's kindness or because of her horrid dream. She supposed it was a mix. She leant in, Ryujin's arms soothing her mind enough for her to spill the deep dark contents of her nightmare.
When she had finished, Ryujin soothed her more, voice cutting through her terrors like a bullet through skin.
"It's just a dream, that won't ever happen. I promise Yeddeong." Ryujin spoke, placing a kiss on the top of Yeji's head. "You can sleep here if you'd like."
Yeji did just that. No night-terror slipped into her sleep then.
She loved Ryujin.
--"Ryujin! Come look at this one!" Yeji said, loud and excited while she waved for the raven-haired to come look at another fish. She was by a feeding spot, open top of a large tank. Assorted colorful creatures inside, swimming in their small world.
"Woah... What is it?" She asked, Yeji shrugging while they awed at the fins. The one employee said they could feed them if they wanted, and so they did. Yeji snapping photos and videos with her phone while Ryujin cautiously dropped the pellets.
All the fish swarmed to one spot, nearly suffocating a smaller one in the middle. Yeji's smile faltered then, bending down with Ryujin with a frown.
"It'll be alright." Ryujin said, nervous that her way of feeding just crushed a fish. Yeji watched the little guy get out from under the many above. "See? Tough little guy." Ryujin said, a whisker smile making Yeji smile as well.
"We should get a fish." The brunette said as they continued to walk throughout the aquarium, their arms linked together.
"I don't know how the others would feel about that." Ryujin thought aloud, knowing that with five people, and with their schedule, having time for a fish may be a bit chaotic.
"Oh, but we don't need to have a conversation with it, and if we're away we can get those food pellets that last a couple days." Yeji's eyes sparkled, thinking of a tank in their living room.
"Well, it'd be a lonely fish." Ryujin said, sighing when Yeji huffed, but finding her absolutely adorable.
"We can get two then." She replied, very certain she would leave with a fish.
