The painful hit to her gut sends waves of pain through her body, and she breaths in.

But only lightly, through her nose. Not enough.

They will only hitting her if she wastes time. Until she breathes they will do whatever it takes. And it's not like she can hold her breath forever. So Genevieve forms a stupid plan in her head that will hopefully work.

The next time they punch her, which happens to be immediately, she rips herself free with one hand as they are distracted. Because she wasn't focusing on holding her breath she slips some air through her nose again, and feels herself get a little dizzy. Not wasting any time, panic building up in her throat, Genevieve reaches down to her gun before they can stop her. She takes it out, places one finger on the trigger and takes away the safety. Immediately she points the weapon at the one who is in front of her, and feels them freeze. Everything happened at lightning speed. Genevieve feels even more dizzy.

But the relief of being above the situation settles in her chest.

The girls, obviously afraid, immediately let go. Genevieve takes long breaths and coughs, but doesn't stop pointing her gun at the girl. They back away slowly. Genevieve doesn't come closer.

"You let me leave and I won't shoot, stand still"

When they don't stop moving Genevieve takes a big threatening step closer and yells with a deeper voice.

"I said stand f*cking still!"

Eventually they do what she asked them to, startling at her yell. They definitely aren't professionals, scared by just the sight of a gun. Anyone with experience, like Genevieve, would've known to grab the weapon and tilt it downwards. But it's like she knew they were stupid. Genevieve squints. And they didn't know about her gun either, so they are clearly not working for any of her roommates and not for Azure. They have either never met her before or don't know her well enough. That crosses out a few suspects, but not any enemies. Nobody that dislikes her here, whoever it could be, knows about her gun. Very few people do.

At least it's not her roommates again, Genevieve thinks with relief. They are past that thankfully.

But whoever it is, she doesn't have time to unmask these girls. At any moment one of them could attack her again, because she won't actually shoot. She has things to live for now, and murdering someone isn't exactly on the top of her list, not these girls at least. Not here. So she quickly takes a few steps towards the other side of the alleyway, the girls in front of her moving to the side to let her pass. Genevieve would've felt frustrated that she doesn't know who they are despite having the upper hand, but she doesn't.

She feels terrified, and lonely, and anxious. She feels angry too, and annoyed, and frustrated. But mostly scared. She can't handle this again, she can't handle repeating what happened before.

At least this time her gun actually worked against them.

Finally she is free. Genevieve takes off, running towards the main road and leaving the girls behind her. Before anyone can spot it she hides her gun under her skirt, heart beating up in her throat. She feels nauseous, ready to bend over the nearest toilet and puke. And she has bruises, on her wrists and around her waist and definitely on her stomach from those punches. She feels the pain, but it's somehow outnumbered by the ringing in her ears, the beating of her heart and the nauseous feeling. She doesn't stop running, getting a few weird looks here and there. Her eyes are blown wide and she is practically shaking, obviously people would stare.
