He looks up, and smiles as he looks right into my eyes again. "I'm actually pretty sure that I'm supposed to buy you a drink" the man replies, making me laugh. "That's okay, I'll buy you one" I giggle, ordering him a beer.
"Thanks!" the man chuckles as I hand it over, which makes me laugh again. "Ofcourse, no problem! I'm Amelia, by the way. It's nice to meet you..." I say, asking for his name.
"Chris, it's nice to meet you too Amelia. I really like your name" he replies, making me smile. "Thank you, I like yours too!" I add, looking right into his eyes when I back off again with a smile.
"I uh, I'm gonna go outside for a second, get some fresh air" Chris says, softly smiling back at me. I nod my head, but before he goes, he offers me his hand. I softly smile again, take his hand and let him take me with him.
Once we get outside, it's finally a little more quiet and a little less hot and sweat. "This is better" Chris chuckles, looking at his feet for a moment. "Definitely better" I giggle, and he laughs with me.
"Thanks for the beer, I really appreciate it" he adds, looking at me again. "Ofcourse! It's really not a problem" I reply, and we both smile. "So um, do you go out here a lot?" Chris asks, allowing me to hear his beautiful, deep voice even better now.
"Actually... No, not at all. I really, really hate clubs" I reply, getting a little nervous. "Seriously? Man, I'm really glad because, me too" he tells, and we both laugh again. "Then why are you here?" I ask, still giggling a little.
"I could ask you the same thing! My friends dragged me in, I couldn't really get out of it" he replies, taking a sip of his beer. "Yeah, same here. Well, at least we're outside now" I sigh, looking at my feet and trying to keep myself warm with my arms.
"Yeah, I don't wanna go back in there. Hey um, are you cold?" Chris asks, still looking at me. "A little, but that's okay, I don't wanna go back in there either" I giggle, making him softly laugh with me.
He takes off his jacket, and wraps it around my shoulders while I look up. "T-thank you!" I nervously reply, making him smile. "I'm just trying to make it up to you, for the beer" he adds, and we laugh again. Wow, this guy is amazing!
"Do you live near by? Or do you have to drive for a while?" Chris asks, still looking at me with those beautiful eyes. "About 20 minutes, we came with a cab. How about you?" I ask in reply, looking back into his eyes.
"I'm staying at the Plaza Hotel, I think that's about 20 minutes from here too, right?" he asks again, and I raise my eyebrows a little.
"It is, I live like 2 blocks away from there actually. But, staying at a hotel means that you're probably not from New York, right?" I add, slowly dropping my smile at the thought of never seeing him again.
"Yeah, no, I-I'm from Boston" Chris replies, and I raise my eyebrows again. "Boston? Wow, that's amazing. I heard that ice-skating is nice out there in the winter" I say, making him smile and looking pretty enthusiastic.
"It is great! Not only the ice-skating though, all of Boston is actually pretty cool" he tells, which makes me smile. "You're probably a Red Sox fan too then, aren't you? I mean, they're pretty much awesome" I explain, and he opens his mouth while he widens his eyes and raises his eyebrows.
"You know them?" he quickly asks, which makes me laugh and also makes me feel a couple of things.
"Ofcourse I know them, I'm not an idiot. I went to see a few games in Boston, but I always had to leave afterwards. I'd love to just go there for a few days and see the city" I explain, and he nods his head.
"You should, it's a great city! Make sure to visit all the good places when you go" he chuckles, so I also nod my head and laugh with him.
"Did you, um... Did you know that there's this home for kids and families while they battle cancer, in Boston? It's called Christopher's Haven, and it's actually more than a place to stay. It’s a support system to help with things large and small, a community where families can be together, share a laugh, be comforted, and comfort others. So, if you don't have a charity to donate to this Christmas, you should look them up" I tell, noticing that I'm getting a little too enthusiastic about the beautiful organization.
"I can't believe it..." Chris sighs, looking right into my eyes with a little smile. "I'm sorry, I can talk for hours about things I care about..." I nervously giggle, looking at my feet.
"No no, it's- it's just- you're... Yeah, I um, I've actually been supporting them for 9 years. It's amazing that you know about them, I never would've thought I'd meet someone like you tonight! There aren't a lot of people caring for charity anymore, you know" Chris replies.
"You have? That's amazing, and I'm so sorry, I didn't know that! You said you're from Boston so I thought, why not give it a try?" I add, and we both laugh again.
"Yeah, ofcourse! I would've done the same thing, it's really nice of you to care about the organization so much" he says, so I nod my head.
"It's nice of you too, supporting them for 9 years. That truly is amazing" I reply, making Chris smile with me. "So, what do you do for a living?" he asks, still looking like he's actually interested in me.
"Um, I'm a veterinarian. Lame, huh?" I reply, hoping that he'll say no. "Lame? Oh man, that's not lame at all! I love that! So you work here, in New York?" he asks again, and I nod my head with a smile.
"Wow, very impressive! Since you're a veterinarian... Are you more like a cat-person, or a dog-person? Or maybe a bunny-person?" he asks, frowning with a little smile while I laugh.
"Dog-person, definitely. How about you?" I ask in reply, making him smile. "Thank God, me too" he chuckles, and we both laugh again.
"Do you have any pets yourself? Or is that weird, because you work with pets all days?" Chris asks again, he's adorable! "I don't have pets, no. I always wanted to adopt a dog, but I was afraid that I'd have too little time for him or her" I explains, and he understands.
"I get that, do you work a lot?" he asks again, still looking at me. "I um... I used to work 7 days a week, yeah. But they gave me some time off so I guess I could get a dog after all" I giggle, making him laugh with me.
"How about you? What do you do?" I ask, but before he can answer, I hear someone calling my name. I look back, and see my friends walking out. I guess Chris and I have been talking for longer than I realize!
