Not everybody wants to own a big house and a car;
Some people just want to meet their love that has always stayed far!The sun blessed the farm with its potential light and the wind suddenly wanted to show him off as he shook the trees pretty wild.The clouds danced up on the sky and the birds relaxing in mid-air.It was quite a show to watch.
As the cows mewed on the green grass,the chickens were busy playing hide and seek with the little ones while the calf whose been waiting for her mother to arrive mooed loudly indicating that she needed food immediately.
Hygeia,who was sitting comfortably in the grass bed,placing her head on the big wall never knew when she fell asleep.
She woke up to the sound of the calf ordering Hygeia to bring back her mom to the barn.She slowly got up and picked up her stick and led the cows back to the barn and then came and collected the chickens who were chilling with their family.
"The sun is too bright.Why don't you'll get back to your houses and let me go have something to eat."Hygeia lead them into their hay covered houses where their coop sat at the corner.She placed the rice in a plate and installed it into their hay house,where some hens were warming their eggs.She gave them one last smile and rushed to her house.
"Grams!I'm here!I'm hungry!",she placed her hat on the old television which sat at the very corner of the living room.
"I'm sorry,dear.The-breakfast is -not ready--yet",she heard the old lady's stuttering voice coming from the little kitchen.
"You need any help?",she walked towards the kitchen after washing her face in the apron sink.
Her grandma was standing there in front of a hot boiling stew which bubbled up in front of her.She wiped the sweat that run down her face and looked at Hygeia with a smile.
"Where's grandpa?",Hygeia placed herself on the wooden table that stood there alone at the end of the kitchen.
"He has gone to the market to get some fresh veggies for dinner!",Grandma shook her head with a smile.
She had set up the table for breakfast before her grandpa arrived.They were usually chatting about those news that seemed to be a hot fire among the townsmen.
"Seems like the wall is going to be demolished in order to regain the demolished friendship!"Grandfather Nicholas sighed heavily.
"But G,pa! This talk seems to be going on for years and I don't think that there's been any action taken to get rid of the wall that separates the two countries",Hygeia helped herself with some beef and sauce.
"I hope I'll be dead facing this wall.This has always been a part of my life.But you never know the people behind the walls,those countrymen-",he removed his glasses in anger,"have always been treating us so bad.When old people like us go to the edge of the wall for picking those beautiful hibiscus and roses.They throw stones and sticks from the other side.Those lil' brats!Look at that country and their people!Totally ridiculous!",he gulped the water and coughed aggressively.
"Don't worry,grandpa!Since the work of picking up the flowers has been passed on to me!I'll take care of it!"She gave the brightest smile possible but deep down she knew that there was something terrible waiting for her at the very edge.
"You have to be careful,dear.If you find any ridiculous acts like that.Tell us immediately!"Grandma patted her.
"I'll be fine,dear old lady!",she chuckled.
"If you're mom and dad were still alive.They would've got you the best education possible and a luxurious life!Being with us,you've been in the farm all your life looking after the cows and running after the chickens!",Grandma bit her lip feeling a bit down.
"But that is what I love the most.I've seen the city girls in Servaville.They come to the shops in big brand cars but doesn't know that pumpkin is a creeper!I think I'm better educated than those rich chics out there trying to differentiate courgette from cucumber!"she laughed.
For the rest of the meal went in complete silence except for the noise of the dishes being dragged across the table.
"I've finished my meal.The food was yummy,thank you so much!"she smiled and slid her plates carefully into the sink.
She slowly walked towards the wall that stood facing their house.She saw the roses blooming up with a fresh smile and mesmerised her with their fragrance.She started picking them slowly and after the basket was full,she looked up at the shining star and wiped the sweat off her forehead.
She walked over to a spot where the wall had took a little turn which in turn provided a little shade.She sat there and sighed heavily.She looked at the green pastures and the sound of water fighting themselves to break the mighty rocks in the Lake echoed in her ears.
She looked at the roses which were now sleeping peacefully inside that little basket.As she kept staring at the roses,a smile spread across her face.When she looked at her hands,she could see how the thorns had tried their best to keep those beautiful roses to themselves."I wish someone would fight for me like that!"she said to herself.
Her eyes looked up at the fluffy cotton filled blue sea.She has been here in this farm all her life.During her high school days,she has always been known as a goddess due to her excellence in studies,sports and exceptionally for her stunning visual.But as days got darker,she couldn't afford school and had to stay at home to help her grandparents.
The last time,she ever saw her parents.She was four years old,sitting in her dad's lap,holding his neck tightly with tearful eyes.The photo still hangs on her room as a proof that she too once had a parents who cared for her.They had gone to work in the capital but never returned.Every Christmas,she used to plead Santa to bring back her parents and used to wait by the barn gate.But as years rolled by,she has lost hope and carried herself along the way that life had chosen for her."I've been lonely here in the farm,
All my life I've been sitting here near the barn;
Those city girls wear poppin frocks and fluffy gowns;
But I'm here laying on the hay tryna bounce-"she laughed at her own silly song."Well,someone's here trying the same!haha!
Oh!dear,Could I ask you what is your name?"she heard a voice from the other side of the wall."Huh?"she placed her ear on the wall.
