My sister used to be a dancer
I used to watch her spin
Forget all about the world
And throw her hands up high.
Mama always praised her
Squeezed her shoulders hard
Dad called her his pride and joy
Sayd that she'd go far.
My sister used to twirl
And flit like a butterfly
And all the adults loved her.
But they didn't see what I say
Late at night with teary eyes.
My sister danced with abandon
Getting drunk and feeling high
Sometimes I'd see her scars
But she whispered "I'm fine."
My sister used to spin
Between wisps of smoke
Sneaking out and coming home late
All the things she did? I grew to hate
My sister used to cry.
All alone in our bathroom.
Trying to cover up the bloodstains
I'd stay silent like a tomb
My sister used to hug me
And weep into my hair
She used to leap and dance
But then she just didn't care.

My sister used to be a dancer.
But one night she danced
Up on a bridge
And her gracefull little feet
That never had tripped
Somehow, that night,
They managed to slip.
