Will We Make It

Chapter 3

After a long nap Daniel woke up to the sound of static coming from the single, beaten up radio.

"Where is that sound coming from?", thought Daniel but then realized Ahmed was trying to fix the old radio. You see, Ahmed needed to get out of the country and go Iraq before any of his fellow soilders realize he had escaped and desetered the army.

He wanted to know the where-abouts after Daniel and Ahmed took some pain killers to help with the pain. Ahmed was Shoot and the bullet grazed his right leg while, Daniel had a piece of shrapnel in his thigh.

After a while Daniel had realized that Ahmed must have taken it out when he was taking a nap. When Daniel woke up, he saw sunlight reflecting off some kind of irregular object near his bed covered in some rusty blood. He then noticed the bloody kitchen scissors and kitchen knives laying near the shiny metal object.

So after the static of the radio stopped Daniel and Ahemd heard the voice of an American journalist on Al jazzera.

They both leaned back to hear what the world had to say about the invasion of Saddam Hussien. Both of them carefully listened to people explain how this war was just for the wealth of the liquid gold. Then Presidnet George H. W. Bush came on the radio.

"The world must be made safe for democracy and Americans going shall arrive in Qatar and Saudia Arabia and will prepare to make the long trek to the war that broke the country of Kuwait." He stated.

While this was amazing news for Daniel, this was horrible news for Ahmed. If the Americans found him in Dubai, they would take him prisoner. Not knowing what to do, Daniel said

"I'm going to help you furtively get back to Iraq."

Ahmed was in shock of what a brave lad Daniel was! While Ahmed was snapping out of his daze, Daniel helped gather supplies for the long journey to the border which was about 700 miles. When he had gathered enough supplies, Daniel realized, that there was one tiny little problem, they would need a vehicle to travel throught the excruciating desert climate.

So at night when the sounds of the bombs got quiet, Daniel ran to his dad's car took a rock and broke the window. He got into the car and hot wired it. "We leave first thing after the sunrise.", was all that Daniel said.
