state of shock
marina was stood in the corner, hiding.
her mom and dad shouting when she heard a glass smash and a scream.she ran into the room where her mother's body laid.
a stifled sob came out of her mouth, shoving her hand over her face to try and shield herself from the sight.
her mother laid there, still. blood covering her face, her hair matted with the thick red liquid
her dad looked at her, marina's eyes were filled with fear, a lone tear making its way down her red, blotchy face.
her dad grabbed his keys and wallet, making his way to her, giving her a kiss on the forehead.
"i'm sorry."
he walked out of the house, very calmly despite having literally murdered his wife, his daughter's mother.
marina grasped her phone, dialling 911, shaking slightly.
"911 what's your emergency." the dispatcher spoke.
"my mom, she's dead." marina spoke, emotionless.
"can you check if she's breathing for me?" the dispatcher said. "i'm sending an ambulance and police to you right now."
marina made her way to her mum.
her eyes were wide open, a fearful look on her frozen face. blood coated her face, blood oozing from a massive split on the side of her head.
she reached down and put two fingers to her neck.
"there's no pulse and she's not breathing, her eyes are wide open. she's dead." marina spoke, numb.
she could hear the sirens nearing as she sat down next to her mum.
her mum, her best friend was dead.
she crossed her legs as she brushed the matted hair out of her mum's face.
marina's hands were covered in blood, it starting to dry.
her grey hoodie was now stained a brownish colour.
police and paramedics made their way into the house, slightly shocked at the site.
the paramedics pulled her onto a stretcher, insisting on taking her to the hospital to get her checked out, so she went with them.
when they got there she said that she could walk in, so marina and the two paramedics walked into the hospital.
from there, the paramedics left her and another doctor and three nurses brought her into a room, the doctor holding her elbow, scared she would run.
"my name's ashton, honey, can you tell me your name?" the doctor asked her, only she couldn't hear him.
she was stuck in a state of shock, everyone's voices were cloudy and muffled, all she could hear was her dad.
"i'm sorry" was repeated in her ears over and over again.
this is when ashton took an opportunity to page psychiatry.
they were scared that what she had witnessed had put her into a catatonic state, which meant that the police wouldn't know who did this to her mother.
when a psychiatric fellow walked in, she automatically ordered a sedative, the young girl was scratching her arms so hard that it was drawing blood.
she didn't react to the needle or when the doctors put her in restraints to stop her from harming herself.
"i'm sorry"
