Max's P.O.V
Seeing Nathan like that really upset me but I knew I could only talk to Chelle about it because the others didn't know about it fully.
Basically when we started the band Nathan was 16 turning 17 and was still seeing the same girl from school, despite moving from gloucester he continued to see her and just didn't tell the fans. Although he never said much, I could see how head over heels in love he was with her, and it was cute because I remember being 17 and meeting my first serious girlfriend and you do genuinelly think she is the one and it breaks you heart when it ends. I don't think any of us particularly Nath, expected him and Chloe to break up but one night just after our third single lose my mind was being released, the worst thing happened possible and I don't think Nath has ever gotten over that.
# MAX FLASHBACK#
'Oh Mate i'm well excited to come to gloucester again' I laughed ruffling Nathan's hair, we were heading to Heart FM to promote the new single and Nath was buzzing because we had a day off after so we were all going to crash at his mums.
'Me too' he smiled and looked out of the window. It was hard for Nath and we all knew that, I mean come on, the guy was only 17 and was living away from home, I was struggling and I'm 22 so god knows how he felt, I also knew he was excited to see his girlfriend Chloe, as they didn't see each other a lot.
After the interview which was wicked, we all piled into the van and headed off to Nathan's. He got out of the van first to pull his mum and sister into a hug before we followed. I picked Jess up and gave her a squeeze. 'Hey little one' I smiled 'Hows it going?'
'Yeh good thanks' she replied before being scooped up by Jay. We all loved Nathan's family and it was clear to see that Nathan got his musicality from his mum. Karen pulled me aside when we got into the house and whispered. 'How is he Max? I don't want to be awkward and overbearing on him so thought I would ask you.' she smiled and I pulled her into a hug.
He's fine Karen, honestly he's never been better and things are going so well at the moment so thats great.' I smiled reassuringly. That night we decided to go to a restaurant for dinner with Naths mum, sister and girlfriend but just before we went out Nath's phone went out and I saw his face drop.
'Whats up mate?' I asked
'Nothing, just Chloe cancelled saying she was ill but Jess saw her this morning and she said she had never seen her so happy and smiley'. he looked so gutted I decided we had to go and see her.
We drove over after picking up some chocolate and flowers which Nathan wanted to get to make her feel better. We knocked on her door but there was no answer.
'Thats odd' said Nath 'someone is always here, she can't be too ill to come and answer the door can she' I could see he was getting panicked, but there wasn't a lot I could do. We were just about to leave when some guy opened the door.
'Oh Nath...' the guy said looking far too awkward for my liking
'Hey Jake' Nath said turning to me 'Max this is Jake, Chloe's brother, Jake this is Max one of my band mates.' We bothed gave each other a nod of acknowledgment before Nath continued his conversation. 'Jake is Chloe here? I want to give her these to make her feel better' Nath was so thoughtful it was adorable.
'Um...she..um is too ill.' Jake replied a bit too cagey.
'Come on Mate' I stepped in. 'Just for 5 minutes, he's really missed her.'
'I said no didn't I' he snapped back
'Alright Jake now I know something is going on' Nathan snapped back, trying to barge past Joe. Joe was a big lad so i shoved him aside letting Nath step in before following him up the stairs. He walked towards a door and knocked before swinging it open.
'Suprise Ch...' he stopped in his tracks and turned around his face white as a sheet.
'Nath what's up' I asked before brushing past him in time to see Chloe shoving a t-shirt on and some guy pulling the duvet over himself. My blood boiled as I looked at her.
'Max...' she breathed
'You slag' I replied
'I'm so sorry Nathan, please believe me!' she bent down next to him on the floor and I slammed the door not letting the other guy see. 'It's just you are never here and I can't get to London.' she looked like she was about to cry and I saw the sadness in Nathan's eyes turn to anger.
'SO SOMEHOW THIS IS MY FAULT!' he yelled pushing her away. 'I offer to skype you everyday and also to put you up in our apartment, I send you presents and cards. What more do you want from me?!!! If you were unhappy you could have just told me rather than fucking some random guy!' He was now physically shaking and I moved ever so slightly between them to stop this spiralling out of control.
'I'm leaving now Chloe' he spat 'and don't try to contact me. I never want to speak to you again'. He turned and walked out of the house slamming the door.
'MAx please' she begged
'Don't you dare' I snapped. 'He is the last person on this planet to deserve that. DO YOU KNOW how much he talks about you and how much he misses you. He is forever over run by this guilt that he left you here.' I turned away and down the stairs and just before I left the house i turned to her.
'He was going to tell you he loved you tonight and ask if you maybe wanted to come stay with us temporarily, but i'm suggesting that the offer no longer stands.' I left the house and ran down the street after Nath determined to get him over this.
#END OF FLASHBACK#
It had killed Nath but he'd got through it with all of us (although the lads didn't know what had happened, just that it had ended) and I had thought we were out of the woods. Now he'd seen her I was worried he'd fall back again and I wasn't sure I could pick him up
