Chapter 13: Death Is A Bitch

This Chapter is told by the POV of Antonio

I hear a snap and thump as something happens behind me. I try my best to fight off the paralysis and can't do it. Fuck. I focus on my toes and fingers first. I flex all of my muscles and move my toes. I struggle to move my fingers and hands and finally get it after a good few minutes. I am able to move before anyone and when fully back in control I turn around and look for the source of the noise. I see Devin sitting next to the lifeless body of the frog dude that was just attacking us.

"What happened?" I ask staring at Devin's scared face. He looks at me then throws up all over the floor. He stands up and wipes his mouth with the back of his hand.

"I killed him" he says giving me a awkward thumbs up. He walks over to Steven and helps him get to his feet. I do the same for Milton. It takes both of us to get Mike up. I look over at Devin and he's still shaking. Must be taking the killing hard. I hear your first time killing someone really takes a toll on you.

"Devin! What the fuck?!" Mike shouts as he runs towards Devin and hugs him. Milton joins in soon followed by Steven. I stay back knowing he doesnt need a group welcome right now.

"We need to leave" Devin says as he breaks free of the hug "We need to get the others and get the heck out of here" He grabs Mike's knife off the floor then opens the front door and looks around

"Wait! Will somebody please tell me what the fuck is going on?!" Milton shouts looking confused as hell

"Be quite!" I whisper loudly

"Don't tell me to be quite! I want to know what's going on!! Devin you better answer me!!!" He says taking a step towards Devin. Devin sighs and turns around then punches Milton square in the jaw sending him once more to the hardwood floor. Devin squats next to Milton and leans towards his face

"Listen closely. Listen well. I'm getting the others and we are getting out of this city. You get it? Good." He says then stands back up and holds his hand out to help Milton up. He grabs Devin's hand and stands up then walks out the door.

"Alright then" I say "Time to go" We split up to go get people, Mike and Steven went to go get Oliver and Desmond while Milton went to get Jacob. Me and Devin headed out to get Kelly and Beth. We just got to Kelly's house. I knock on the door and then turn to Devin. Wait what the..? Where'd he go? Oh well, he probably went on his way to Beth's house already. The door begins to open so I turn back to it

"Well hey there Antonio" Beth says then lets me inside "this isn't a booty call is it? Cuz I don't want to listen to that"

"Beth, who is it?" Kelly calls out stepping out of her kitchen. She sees me and runs up to me and gives me a huge hug

"Guys, I'm gonna say this quick because we need to catch up to him before he gets to Beth's house and gets worried about why she's not there" I say shutting the door behind me. It hits something before it closes and stays open a little bit. I turn around expecting it to be Devin but standing there is a tall black man, I don't mean African American, I mean black, like as black as a black marker, and it looks like his skin is short fur like a trimmed cat. His eyes are yellow and his teeth and fingernails are all pointy and sharp. The worst part about this cat-like man is the long white robe he is wearing around his body. The same robe as the frog guy

"What is that?!" Kelly screams and hides behind me

"Run!! Now!!" I scream as the man takes a step inside. I turn and see that he is about 7 foot and skinny but muscular. I swing at his face but he easily leans out if the way then bats me aside then walks past me towards the stairs that Beth and Kelly had just ran up. I get up and run towards him. He must have heard me because as soon as I get close he jumps into the air and spin kicks me in the face sending me to the ground missing two or three teeth. I can't get near him

"It's no use young one. I'm better than you in every way. Like the mighty panther I am cunning, flexible, fast, strong, and unforgiving. If you attack me again. I will kill you" he says staring at me with his glowing yellow eyes. I crawl back until I hit the wall then he chuckles and begins up the stairs. I can't let him get to the girls. But if I get close to him he will kill me without a problem. Wait, I got it! I won't get close. I turn towards the table next to me and grab the remote off of it

"Hey fuzzball! Take this!" I yell then throw the remote full force at him. It hits him in the back of the head and falls to the ground. He turns around and glares at me

"I warned you" he says then walks towards me. I start throwing whatever I can grab at him. Vase of water, tablecloth, table. Its not working. I get up and try running from the man but he pounces at me and manages to scratch my neck open. Im bleeding fast from my neck wound. I know I'm dead now. The man picks me up and throws me through the window and I land in Kelly's garden. I'm laying in the mud bleeding out

"I'm sorry Devin. I'm sorry Kelly... Beth... Steven. I failed you guys. I wasn't strong enough" I choke to myself as I start slipping away. I don't even know if I'm actually talking or not. "I failed. I deserve this. I deserve to die. I'm sorry everybody. I love you all" I finish as I fade away farther. Things begin going dark and I begin hallucinating from loss of blood. The world spins and I am suddenly in a large room filled with gold coins. The coins melt and turn into a rushing river that I'm drowning in. I grab onto a tree and pull myself onto it then look down and see that the river is gone and im hundreds of feet in the air. The limb breaks and I fall to the ground in a field of flowers. I see Devin kneel next to me and tell me goodbye. I try to talk but can't. Devin stands up and turns into the panther man and begins laughing at me. The final thing I see is the flowers grow around me as I shrink into death. I sink into the dirt as it swallows me and I close my eyes and let it take me.

I open my eyes and look around me. Everything is pitch black and I can't move. I open my mouth to breathe and am greeted with a mouthful of dirt. I start scratching at the dirt with my fingers until there is room to dig with my hands. I dig and dig until I finally reach the surface. I emerge from the ground and take a huge breath if air. I look around and realize that I'm outside Kelly's house. I look up and see a shattered window. A flood of memories hit me as I remember what happened. I put my hand up to my neck and feel for the tear but there is none. I glare through the window and see a shadowy figure in the dark house. I jump back through the window and run full speed at the panther man.
