chapter 7

it's currently 5:50 pm and i'm lying down on my bed contemplating whether i should go to ethan's or not. i really don't feel like dealing with him. against my wishes, i decide to get up and put my shoes on, grab my bag and keys and leave.

his dorm is about a 5 minute walk but the more I walk the more nervous I get. once i reached his door step i stare at it for about 30 seconds. wtf am i doing? just knock?

i hesitantly reach my hand up and knock on the door. a couple of seconds still later and no answer. I knock again. no answer. I guess I'll just wait. it's been a few minutes and still no answer. unacceptable. he knows we were supposed to meet at 6 pm.

I knock again but with more force. the door goes flying opening, "what the fu-" a familiar girl opens the door wearing nothing but underwear and a crop top. she was the girl ethan was with at the party. shit.

"hey" I say putting a smile on my face.

"who are you?" she says back. wow. rude much?

"I'm ethans uhh classmate" I say trying to figure out my words. "we have a project that we need to do"

"mhmmm, okay whats your na-"

"whos that" a familiar face appears from behind.

he comes into the door putting his hand on the door on top of her hand. He gives me a look of confusion. the "what the fuck are you doing here" look.

"what are you doing here" and the words come flying out of his mouth. there's no way I'm dealing with this right now.

"uh we have a project..." i say embarrassingly. he still gives me a look. "you told me to come over today..." I add more.

he looks at me as if I'm making all this up. Like we didn't we speak a few hours ago in class. my cheeks are progressively turning red.

"ethan, who is she?" she says firmly with her eyebrows crossed. she says it as if he's hiding something from her. I'm guessing this is the first time a unwelcomed girl came into his apartment without her knowing.

"Alyssa." he says strongly while looking at her, his eyes indicating "don't start". I'm guessing he doesn't have time to put up with her bullshit. she quickly softens her face noticing he doesn't have time for argument.

"Didn't I tell you, you can do the project?" he fires. I don't know if he forgot what I told him in class or is trying to get a reaction out of me but whatever it is, it's working"

"I told you i'm not doing it alone, it's a long project" I say back with attitude keeping my eyes on him. Alyssa sighs and I can tell she is getting annoyed at the conversation.

"Fine" he says coldly while turning around.

"Fine what?" I say loudly back not understanding what he means.

"come in" he says walking away.

"ethan! you told me today we could spend the night together!" she says loudly running towards him

"alyssa, i don't have time for this I need to this project" he says back not looking at her. while im just patiently waiting for this conversation to be over because it's getting awkward for me I just stand there.

"we haven't spend a night together in so long..." she says her voice slowly fading into what i'm guessing is ethan's room. "it's been two days" he says back. why does he put with this? I hear her shuffling and packing happening.

I look around his apartment, it's dark, barely any light, windows closed and candles lit and mainly black. it suits him considering the lack of colour.

I get distracted by alyssa rushing towards the door with her duffel bag, passing through me while pushing me out of the way with her shoulder hitting mine. my guess she isn't happy that i'm here.

"why are you still standing there" ethan says with a blank hoodie on.

i look down and slowly walk in. "sorry about that" i say to him looking up. I do feel bad that he's not spending time with her but how am i suppose to know that she was meant to be there?

"why are you apologising" he says confused. but i can tell he knows why.

"You wanted the night with her instead you have this project" I say back

"It's fine" he says clearly not in the mood walking towards the living room.

I walk towards him and sit on the couch taking my laptop out and placing in the his desk.

he sits across from me and does the same.

"So where should we start?" he says looking at me.
