The next day at the police department, Sergeant Moss was sitting at his desk and Digbeth Kid was standing opposite him in handcuffs, "Name?" Sergeant Moss said.
"The Digbeth Kid," Digbeth Kid said.
"Your real name?" Sergeant Moss said as he looked at him unimpressed.
"Harold Hancox," Digbeth Kid said.
Sergeant Moss wrote down his information, "Profession?" Sergeant Moss said.
"Illegal bookmaker," Digbeth Kid told him.
Sergeant Moss sighed and looked at him confused, "You don't admit that. You say something like, 'Umbrella Mender'. And then we decide you're lying and then we arrest you," Sergeant Moss said.
"Umbrella Mender," Digbeth Kid said.
Sergeant Moss rolled his eyes and wrote the information, "You were found in possession of betting slips, racecards and ticker tape. Any explanation?" The Sergeant looked at him as Digbeth Kid shook his head, "No," The Sergeant looked back at the form and started filling it out, "'No, I have no explanation for my possession of those items, Officer'," The Sergeant looked up at the other officer in the room briefly, "Take him down, will you? I'll fill in the rest myself," Sergeant Moss said and the other officer escorted Digbeth Kid out of the room.
Later that evening, Tommy and Astella were sitting in the betting room with Natasha, Oscar, Shane, John, Esme and Arthur going over the day's work when there was a bang at the door. They all looked at the door and Esme walked over, opening it, "I need to see Astella Shelby," A woman's voice said.
Astella stood up and walked to the door, seeing her father's landlady, "You," Astella said in shock and the landlady rushed in, Astella took a step back as she was hugged by the woman and slowly returned the hug, feeling the woman shaking.
"I didn't know who to tell," The landlady said.
"Right, come with me," Astella took the woman's hand and looked at Esme, "Get us some tea," Astella said and led the woman into Tommy's room, ignoring the men's stares then closed the door.
"I'm sorry... You're working," The landlady said.
"Don't worry about it. Take a seat... Need a cigarette?" The landlady sat down and nodded, "Wait here," Astella walked out of the room and walked over to Tommy, taking out his cigarette box and matchbox, she took out a cigarette, lit a mat then the cigarette and handed them back to him, "Don't ask," Astella said.
"I'm still gonna," Tommy said.
"I may have been the one to suggest the lodgings to Moss," Astella said.
Esme walked over to her and handed over the cup of tea, "Here," Esme said.
"Thank you, Esme," Astella took the cup, "I won't be long," Astella said and walked into the room, shutting the door with her body, she handed over the cup of tea then the cigarette and sat in Tommy's seat.
