The Knight and the Duck

The duck used to be a girl....

I used to be a girl. I wasn't very good at ballet, but I was passionate at least. And I had friends; Peke, Lilie, Rue, Mytho...and Fakir.

And I loved them, love them so dearly I would do ANYTHING to help them.

even if it meant giving up yourself?

Even if it means giving up the things I love.

"Duck?" Fakir's voice wavered over to me from across the pond.

"I'm here!! Hi!!" I flapped over. And of course Fakir couldn't tell what I was saying. Everything was quacks. He didn't bring food today, which was fine I didn't need food I just liked that he provided me company.

Things weren't so bad, being a duck. It was the usual except I had Fakir and I couldn't do ballet. But still the same. The same Duck.

Since Mytho and Rue had gone back into the story Fakir had said he was gonna write some good stories now and ones about me and just ones in general I would suppose.

Except-

He never let me see what he wrote, to which I had quacked angrily at him. Unfortunately Fakir wouldn't budge on this and so I was left to swim around or sunbathe on the dock or preen my feathers until Fakir decided he was done writing.

Again, not so bad. Things could be worse. I could be a speck of light.

"Man the moment I get outta this duck body I'm gonna take advantage of being a human being." I grumbled.

Fakir sent me a strange look.

"What?" I quacked back to him.

He shook his head. "I wish I could understand you. If there was any way...you wouldn't happen to have an amulet would you?"

I frowned at him. "No I don't and you shouldn't joke like that Idiot."

I swam over and Fakir ruffled my head ultimately pushing my head into the water for a moment. "You're so silly," He glanced at his pages. "Could we..try something?" He looked down at me quizzically as if I could answer him totally clearly and not as a duck.

"Quack"

Fakir scooped me out of the water and set me down.
