"GAH IM GONNA BE LATEEEE" Duck was zooming

(I'm sorry hi it's the author that made me laugh no I'm not deleting it I have the distinct mental image of Duck doing her daily routine and then but it's like it's disruptive but like the Abby meme abt her zooming right anyhow sorry back to the story)

Duck was zooming across the hallway, fully dressed in her uniform at too early in the morning and without checking the clock (graciously gifted to her by Karon) she was out the door and down to the school.

Fakir, meanwhile, resisted the urge to yell at her loudly and stifled the noise with his pillow.

Duck was too early, as per the usual.

Either too late or to too early. BUT today she was excited to dance, to finally dance and twirl and stretch and be.

She was a bit worried what would happen if she turned back into a duck, but not enough to let it bring her down.

"It'll have to be a situation! A situation we get to eventually." Duck decided to be proud of herself for coming this far.

Of course the moment she made it to the classroom it was empty.

"Oh." She wondered if there was time to go back to Fakir's house and sleep. But it was farther than the dorms even, and not worth bothering.

Duck was hungry though, and wondered if Fakir always made food or if that was an only sometimes thing.

Duck set up her stuff and laced her shoes, and went over to the Barre to begin stretching.

Cause she might as well practice before Mr. Cat could marry her.

Of course I had to come back too early. Although... If I remembered properly, Lilie and Peke would be a bit early too!

I tried to stretch as best I could.

"Hey!! You're that new student!" I was bombarded by two faces

Unfamiliar ones as I had expected Peke and Lilie.

"Um Hi!!" I held out a hand.

The girl on the right had a sharp bob cut, black hair and big grin and a girl with yellow hair style in cone-like buns. 

"Hiya! my name is Mai," the black haired one held out a hand, and before I could shake it the yellow haired one had squeezed me in a hug that was reminiscent of my previous friends.

Speaking of Peke and Lilie they definitely should show up soon. And how would I make friend with them again? 

"And my name is Yuma! You look lonely are you lonely?"

"Uh- Um no no I'm not lonely, just new? Yeah I'm new totally new I've never been here before" Haha yep I totally nailed that didn't I.

Luckily though the girls didn't seem to notice and instead started telling me enthusiastically about their daily lives and how I was their friend now.

"You can totally hang out and we can go and do stuff now!" Yuma said, shaking me.

"Wow! okay! definitely alright-" I was interrupted by Mai tho, who leaned in close

"You know I hope you like ice cream there's this new place downtown and me and Yuma were already gonna go!" I nodded absently, with a feeling I wasnt gonna get a word in edgewise to these two.

So much like Peke and Lilie, and yet

"Oooh like a Date?" Mr. Cats voice carried over the girls conversation, Mai and Yuma's voice drifting away into panic.

"The ONLY date you three should be going on is one with me or should I have you marry me right away!!???"

All three of us snapped into ballet positions immediately

No one wants to get married to Mr. Cat- Or a human with cat-like tendencies.

"SO SORRY MR. CAT SIR"

"Phew man I didn't expect class to be so hard" Mai sighed and Yuma nodded

"Well!! Are you free Duck? to come with us for ice cream?"

Duck was preoccupied by trying to see if Fakir was somewhere close by. She just had to check if he was okay

"Heyyyy Duck?? Are you good? You always this spacey?"

Duck nodded, "My old friends used to say that too..." she added absently, still looking for Fakir.

"Your old friends?" Yuma grabbed Ahiru's shoulders and shook her again.

"You've had friends before?"

Duck spotted Fakir finally and turned to Yuma and Mai "I did! but now I have to go and join my bo- uh,, my well this other friend I have so you guys can go ahead."

"Duck? Who are you talking to?" Fakir's voice made the two girls giggle and it made Duck startle.

She couldn't help but smile.

"Duck! You have a boyfriennndddd?" Yuma grinned and elbowed Mai "What do you think Mai? A good match?"

Mai grumbled something about Yuma invading her private life.

"WHaaAaa Fakir isn't my boyfriend totally not at all" she looked back at him and his stoic gaze "OkAy😤 Maybe a little bit but shh don't tell anyone okay Yuma!?"

Yuma just snickered and grabbed Mai's arm, "Okay we'll leave you two alone" She waves goodbye and as did Mai. "We can go get ice cream tomorrow!"

Once they were gone Duck sheepishly gave her whole attention to Fakir.

"Hi"

"Make new friends?" Fakir pointed towards the girls leaving, except they weren't leaving, but had rather situated themselves nearby. Privacy with a dash of no privacy at all.

"Yes actually! They're pretty nice, similar to Peke and Lilie maybe a bit like toned down? they aren't as overbearing ummm how was class for you?"

Fakir smiled slightly at her freckles face.

"My day was fine, your friends wanted to take you for ice cream though? Don't you want to go?"

"Ohhhh ahAhah I don't really wanna go. I mean what if I turn into a duck again what will I do? hahaha"

"I could come I guess" Fakir shrugged. "If you didn't mind. But I do need to go back and keep writing."

Duck pondered this for a moment and grabbed his hands excitedly. "Okay!! I'll go but you gotta stay safe and stuff!!" She waved to him, running off towards Mai and Yuma, who immediately bombarded her with questions she narrowly avoided answering.

"You be safe too," Fakir decided she'd be okay on her own for a while, and left back to his house.

//hi tis the author here I got part of my college situation worked out so I'm mostly okay! I know that my fic is rlly slow,, I promise I have ideas I'm making a rue animatic rn and I also am trying to decide if I want to make this really angsty or a lighter story.
