chapter 2

Angels pov

The guests were sitting at the table, eating, talking, laughing and enjoying themselves. Once I was done getting the water for my husbands close worker, he walked up to me. I was surprised by this.

"I just wanted to come over and tell you how great dinner is. It tastes amazing" his arm rests on my shoulder lightly.

"Thank you. Nobody's ever complimented my cooking before" I hand him his water and he takes a sip.

"Oh, and uh thanks for the water as well" he winks at me and walks back over to the guests who were still talking among themselves.

What just happened? I smiled to myself and joined the others. Sitting across from the man that I secretly like.

This all could lead to making one big, stupid mistake and needing to make amends for my husbands forgiveness if he ever did find out. But how could he?

I know that so many people were after Anthony, my husbands, job. He made lots of money and many people tried to get him fired just to take over and replace him. For the same job, the same championship, etc.

But it obviously never worked because he still makes loads of money and does everything he can too make sure he does the job right. He's like a daredevil and everyone around him is no longer worthy.

It was 9pm when everyone was leaving and started to get ready to go. I found out that the man's name was Christopher. We exchanged phone numbers in private and he texted me soon after. My face lit up with joy.

~The next day~

Christopher invited me out for lunch. It was his day off but my husband Anthony was at work. I was a bit nervous but I decided to go anyways.

He was planning on picking me up at 1pm and go to a coffee shop and end up ordering something as well.  I can't even think of the last time someone did something so nice.

The clock read said 8am. He was picking me up in 5 hours. So in the meantime I decided to invite my closest friends over.

"So what is this about you being taken out for lunch?" One of my closest friends Dina asks me. We hug and I smack my lips.

"I know it sounds all wrong but it's quite a long story" I reply.

"Well let's hear it!" My other friend Gabriella says. We all took a seat in the living room and I explained to them how my husband was hosting a dinner party for his co-workers and how I saw a handsome man.

"It's about time someone treats you to lunch" Gabriella says. "I mean, when was the last time Anthony did that?" She rolled her eyes just think about him. None of my friends liked him.

"Ooh, I don't know maybe 6 years" I say hesitantly. Ever since then I've caught him working super late at the office so I drove to his work to check on him, it was his birthday so I decided to surprise it at the office at the time.

He broke my heart in the past when I found him with his secretary. It was his birthday and I saw the two hitting it off in his office.

Maybe there was a good reason behind it, or maybe he was just an idiot and realized it now after he begged me to stay with him. It's possible he just wanted to manipulate me.

I've only ever stayed with him because I was fearing the worst if I ever got a divorce. What if he killed me? What if he hurt the kids? I couldn't let any of those happen.

"That was so long ago. You dessert too be treated with respect" Dina tells me. She leans in towards me and places a hand on my thigh for some comfort. I smile softly.

"Leave him" Dina adds on. I sigh and roll my eyes.

"Yes!" Valerie squeals. We all turned out hearts towards her.

"Leave him for that hot dude that's taking you out for lunch today" Valerie also says. I smile to myself. The thought of eating with him made me happy.

After everyone left I got ready for my lunch date with my husbands co-worker. My heart was racing and a million thoughts were rushing through my mind.
