Two days. It had been two days since the full moon. One day of classes. Snape had covered DA and everyone was just thrilled about it. No one had seen Lupin but he had come up in almost every conversation about the class. It was lunch and everyone was gathered in the Great Hall as per usual. For some reason, I couldn't bring myself to enter. So instead I grabbed food from the closest table and darted out of the doors.

My feet kept moving yet I had no idea where I was actually going. I never even stopped to consider my options. When my pace slowed down, I was looking at the whomping willow. A quick 'immobulous' was able to get me by without injury. I started making my way through the tunnel till I was in the building so many had feared.

Haunted. Haunted my ass.

"Snuffles?"

I waited a few minutes before I heard the padding of feet coming up a set of stairs. A shabby black dog appeared in the doorway, but with the blink of an eye, he was a man again. I held out some of the food I brought and he walked over to take some of it, giving me a smile in thanks. He sat on the couch while I stood. My mind was blank, for the first time I didn't think about anything. But that was soon interrupted by Sirius.

"It's been years since I'd seen him," he said drawing my attention to him. He was looking at the food still in his hands.

"He looked so rugged and old."

"Well your both no spring chickens anymore."

His head rose and his eyebrows were drawn together, "not what?"

"Spring chick– oh never mind, what I mean is you're not teenagers anymore."

"I know, it was just strange to see him so out of place."

I hummed in agreement. Eventually, I made my way to sit next to him on the sofa. We sat together in comfortable silence until I thought I was going to erupt with my thoughts that were now racing through my head.

"I'm his mate. And you knew long before I even questioned that."

His head turned towards me and I looked back at him. He smiled and nodded his head, then raised his hand to point to the bite mark I had failed to notice. The same place Jack's new bite is. Pack.

"I can feel it through this. The second Moony met you, I felt the need to protect something. I just didn't know what till I met you myself. Something in the dynamic had shifted and I knew. And now so do you. Which means your task is to get him to accept it."

"What do you mean?"

A pained expression crossed his face before he spoke. "Remus had always been self-deprecating. He's never accepted the wolf part of himself, in fact, he hates it. Thinks he isn't worthy of a lot of things. I am sure that a mate is one of those."

"So you're telling me I have to whip him into shape and get him to accept me."

"Something of that nature."

"Fan-fucking-tastic."

I looked down at my watch and saw that I had five minutes before I had class. I said my goodbyes with the promise of more food coming soon and left. Making it to Transfiguration with 30 seconds to spare. I took a seat next to Ally and Katie who were mid-conversation, that immediately hushed when my ass hit the chair.

"What are y'all whispering about?"

It was Katie who spoke, "We saw Jack before class. And he was very adamant that you follow his instruction. Told us to tell you that it will only get worse if you ignore it."

"What the hell does that mean Soph? What are you ignoring?"

"I'm not ignoring anything, I was just horny and frustrated and he told me to find someone to deal with it."
