It was a long night. Hermione had wanted to go over her whole arithmancy book. It took some talking down before I convinced her to just go over the few topics for the class. I could see she wasn't happy with me, but I could've honestly cared less. She just wants to be the best. I know all about that. The two hours dragged on forever, and my mind was made up for my future career. Teaching is a no-go.
"Thank you for your help. I truly do appreciate it."
"It was no problem, but if you don't kick Malfoy's ass in this class. I will be forced to make you pay up."
She laughed and then looked at me. A question in her eyes, "What's it like?"
"What do you mean?"
"Being in Slytherin as a muggle-born."
"Well, it's not easy but I got over that a while ago. They jib at me and I plot how to get them back."
"I can't even imagine what it'd be like."
I huffed out a laugh and started gathering all her stuff together. She packed it up and we walked our way out of the library. Immediately fireworks went off in our faces. Hermione released a startled yelp and started laughing. I could hear the laughing of other voices down the hall. Weasleys!
Without another word, I took off in the direction of the laughter. I cast a silencing charm on my feet and kept running. I turned the hall and saw the flicker of two redheads. I picked up speed and got up right behind them. With my wand drawn, I threw a jinx in their direction. Both boys dropped to the ground grumbling.
"Oh c'mon. That's just unkind."
"Kenner, what's with the jinx."
"Oh I'm sorry, so you weren't the ones who made fireworks go off in my face?"
"Fair point."
They turned to each other and laughed. "We really need to prank people who won't fight back."
"That's just a boring life, Fred."
I cast the counter charm and their legs were solid once more. They stood and immediately wrapped me into a hug. Without any words, we walked in the direction of the Great Hall. Fred talked about their new inventions and how they were going to test some of their things around the school. I simply listened in and hummed along with their talking.
"Well Soph, it was a good night."
"We'll see you tomorrow morning."
"Goodnight boys."
They each kissed my cheeks and took off towards the tower, I turned and headed toward the Slytherin common room. It was a silent walk and almost scary. There was the echoing of my shoes and gust of the winds outside. It was getting colder, not that the dungeons are ever warm. I walked into the common room and everyone was gathered while Professor Snape stood in the middle. My entrance went unnoticed by everyone but him.
"No wandering the castle, especially at night. Classes will continue as per usual. If I am forced to deduct house points from my own house, all of you will be scrubbing this castle till it shines."
There were murmurs from the student body. Snape moved his way towards me and everyone went back to their activities. His emotionless face had me on edge for a moment, but I quickly became concerned when he grabbed my arm and pulled me aside.
"Where were you?"
"Tutoring Granger in the Library, what's happened?"
"Black got into the castle and tried to get into Gryffindor Tower. We can't seem to locate him now."
