"hey, zayne."

the headstone stayed still, and tristan had no idea whether or not he expected it to move. he sighed, a small smile appearing on his face before taking sabine's hand to play with her palm a bit.

"i-i am sorry i haven't visited since the day you were buried, i just-" sabine cut herself off, running a hand through her hair. tristan interlocked his fingers with hers, and she breathed out a sigh.

"i have no excuse why i didn't visit you. it was just really painful for me, seeing another one of my friends die. whatever peace of mind i thought i had left, fled me that day... i lost myself."

"you always told me that whatever happened, i had tristan. even if i didn't, there will always be someone who'll be there for me, y'know? there will always be. and i started wondering, why? why should there be a chance for me? what good have i brought to the world? what good does my existence bring?" sabine sighed again, bowing her head.

"i still don't know the answers to those questions, zayne." pink eyes scanned the grassy floor, remembering how much zayne loved the colour. "but you saved me. you both did, and i cannot be more grateful."

tristan looked up at the headstone, away from sabine's hand as he felt sabine rest a tired head on his shoulder. he had visited zayne before, but now he had only four words, that he was confident he can say now.

"rest in peace, zayne."

the end.
