After Liam had left, Bently looked at his hands and wondered just how he could get so bad. The amount of times he had lashed out on his big brother when he hadn't deserved it.
With one last thought, he pushed himself off of the bed and walked down to Zayns room, knocking. He heard a quiet hum, so he opened the door and saw Zayn slowly sutting up, flinching when he sat up fully.
"Hm?" Bently stood there akwardly, looking at his hands guiltily. "What's up, Jack?" Zayn tried again with a light heart.
"Uh, I just wanted to say that I'm sorry for how I've treated the two of you for the past 2 weeks. I didn't realize that it was taking such a strain on you and Liam. He's hurting me and I don't what to do with it."
Zayn patted the spot beside him, seeing the broken look in Bently's eyes really brought back bad memories. Bently winced when he sat down and whined softly. "He got you too then, huh?" Bently's eyes widened at that, as he looked over at Zayn, who was now chuckling at Bently's face.
"It's no secret to any of my kids, so I don't think it should be to you either." Bently, still shocked at Zayn's words, sat back and cuddled into Zayn's side.
"Liam said you have 9 other children. I didn't think about it at the time for obvious reasons, but where are they?" Bently asked the obvious.
"Well, you know those buddies that I told you about when you first got here? They have our youngests. They are coming by tommorrow to drop them off. Our middle children are with Liam's sister which will be coming back when you feel settled, his sister lives a couple blocks away so it isn't a big deal. My eldest, is playing soccer and his team made a special trip to the other end of California. He should be back some time today and he will come back here instead of his aunts because he likes to help with his youngest siblings. So you'll meet Nick, our eldest, in a few hours, I believe."
Liam walked in and smiled at the pair. "Getting along already?" Zayn gave him a look and squeezed Bently's shoulder. "Here Zayn." Liam handed him his tea.
"I have to go deal with Lukas, he decided to pick a fight with Olivia and he's complaining now, by the time that is over with, Nick should be at the school. I don't know when I'll be back because we need groceries as well. Zayn, there is leftovers in the fridge, I want both of you to eat at least half a plate of whatever you eat, understand?" Zayn nodded and Bently looked at his hands. "Yes sir."
"Good, I'll be checking when I get back. I love you both, I'll see you later." With that, Liam slid out and quickly drove to his sisters. Zayn and Bently sat and talked for a while, while Liam went to go deal with his delinquent he calls his son.
When Liam got there, all of his kids came to hug him except for Luke. He stood behind them with a guilty expression. "Luke, can I have a hug?" Luke went up to him solemnly, wrapping his arms around him. Looking to the rest of his kids, he smiled. "I can't stay long today, but when you all get home, we will have the biggest game night."
They all cheered and then Liam crouched and raised his eyebrows and all the kids left. "Go to Aunt Ruths room and stick your nose in the corner. We have talked about keeping your hands to yourself, haven't we?" Luke whimpered but nodded and left to his aunts room.
Liam went to make sure that the rest of his children had behaved while giving his son time to follow directions. When he did go back to his sisters room, Luke was taking shaky breaths, but he was standing in the corner like he was told.
Liam closed the door and went to take his belt off. "Papa, I did what you said but it didn't work. She kept poking at my patience until I burst. Papa, please don't use that."
"Tell me exactly what you did before you hit her." Sliding his belt out, he folded it over and set it on the bed. Luke swallowed hard and shifted on his feet.
"I-I...." Liam nodded, sighing. "That's what I thought. Drop them and come here." He demanded, sitting on his bed. "Papa, I didn't think about what I was doing but she was insulting me and made me feel dumb when I was doing my homework."
Liam thought about that for a second and then, stood up and opened the door. "Olivia Rose Payne-Malik get in here." Luke heard fast, soft foot steps.
Olivia came in with a guilty expression, looking at her brother shaking in the corner and then at the belt on the bed. Liam closed the door and turned to her with his arms crossed. "What happened? I want the truth, Olivia Rose."
Looking down at her feet, she mumbled. "I started it, papa. Aunt Ruth told me to help Luke with his homework and instead I made fun of him until he exploded." She admitted, not taking her eyes off her fathers belt.
"What were the insults?" Olivia's heart dropped. "I'd rather not repeat them, papa." Liam sighed. "Do it anyway." Olivia started crying.
"I can't." Luke saw his sister and slumped down in his corner. "If they were that bad, you shouldn't have bothered even thinking about them. We've talked about the instigating before and I won't tolerate it any longer. Go ask your aunt for a wooden spoon." Liam turned to Luke next.
"Luke, if the insults were that bad, what should you have done?" The question was harsh and Zayn would probably not approve. "I should've taken a break and walked away because I have a short temper and anger issues."
"So why didn't you?" Luke took a deep breath, not wanting to snap at his papa. He was in enough trouble as it was. "Aunt Ruth told me I couldn't leave the table until my homework was done."
"I think she could've made an exception. Don't you think?" Olivia came back at this time. "Yes, sir."
"Put the spoon down on the bed and go to a corner, young lady." She did as told while Liam continued with his son. "Now tell me what you should have done to avoid this whole thing."
"I should have closed the book and asked to go outside to get some air. I shouldn't have hit her. I'm sorry I hit you Olivia." She sniffed from her corner and mumbled somethig inaudible.
"Luke turn back around to your corner. Olivia, come here." They both did as they were told, and Olivia cried harder than before. When she was in reach, he pulled her closer and pulled her shorts down. He pulled her over his lap and then took her panties down as well.
He picked up the wooden spoon and slapped it down on his daughter's sorry backside. She gasped in pain but lied still, knowing she deserved this.
For the next 30 smacks, Olivia cried pitifully. Liam stood her up and pulled her clothes back up. "Go apologize to your brother and go to the room your sleeping in." She walked up to her now sobbing brother and put her arms around him. She apologized quietly, and left the room sniffling.
"Luke, what has been up with you. You had been doing so good with your anger therapy. What happened?" Luke sobbed harder. "I don't know. Something just isn't going right and I don't understand what, papa."
"Come here, Luke." He turned around and saw that he was putting his belt back on. He calmed down just a little. He walked over and Liam pulled him into a hug. "I'll talk to Christopher about what is happening, but you need to try and handle it. You can't have him forever." Luke nodded and calmed down a little more.
Liam sat down and looked at Luke with knowing eyes. Luke pulled his clothes down and Liam helped him over his lap. "45." He stated, before picking the spoon up and raining smacks on Lukes sorry backside.
It didn't take long for Luke to fall apart yet he didn't fight, he knew it was useless. When Liam was done, he picked Luke up off his lap and waited for him to calm to an occasional sob. "Go apologize to your sister and then go to where your sleeping until dinner. I love you, son."
