Chapter 4: Beginning of the rift

Kashish looked up from the pictures and wiped off her tears. She always used to get emotional whenever Naina's topic was brought up. She had never found a friend like Naina, she had made a lot of friends but none of them ever gave her the satisfaction that Naina used to give her after a short or long chat with each other.

Naina and Naveen reached home and freshened up. They both took a mug of chai and sat down in the balcony. Naveen was waiting to hear everything Naina wanted to tell him. He knew everything upar upar se but today, today Naina was going to tell him everything, every detail.

{Guys, I'll be narrating the story from both of their sides, Naina's side as well as Kashish's side. I'll be doing the same in other chapters as well. Hope you all like it!}

Kashish's side:

Kashish to herself: Mai jinta bhi chahu iss baat ko nahi jhukla sakti ki Naina jaisi dost mujhe na kabhi mili aur nahi kabhi milegi. Mai jitna bhi bhoolne ki koshish karu, sacch toh yahi hai ki ab humari dosti nahi rahi. Humari dosti jo ki kabhi bohot majboot hua karti thi, uska tootna uss ek din ke baad se shuru hua. Mujhe aaj tak nahi pata kyu Naina ne aisa kya mere sath, Kyu? Akhir kaar hum dono best friends the! Par thabhi ussne mere sath itna bada dhoka kiya..kyu kiya?

Kashish looked at their last photograph taken. She started to remember the incidents that took place before their friendship ended.

Naina's side:

Naina sat down with her chai. She looked up at the sky as if she didn't want to tell but then decides against it. She opened her mount to say something but then closed it as if words weren't coming out.

Naina: Bhaiya, mai aapko pehele uss din ki baat batati hu. Bas ussi din se humara rishta badalta gaya, tab tak badla jab tak hum dono phir ek baar ek doosre ke liye ajnabee ban gaye, tab tak badla jab tak hum dono ke beech mai koi rishta tha.

The girls were in class 11. Both had taken humanities as their course. They were in the same class with the same subjects. Many new kids were also there, then, there was a very handsome looking boy who had recently joined the school. Kashish saw him and had lost her heart to him.

Kashish whispered: Naina! Naina! Woh dekh, usse. Kitna handsome hai na?

Naina: kaun? Woh naya ladka?

Kashish: Umm..kya lagta hai, woh mujhe like karega?

Naina: Kashish! Abhi toh sirf padai pe hi dhyan rakhna chahiye! Tum hi toh kehti ho!Aur phir agar uncle ko pata chalega ki tumhe ek ladka pasand hai toh pata nahi Woh kaise react karenge!

Kashish: Naina, mai kya karu? Mujhe thodi pata tha ki usse dekhne ne baad mujhe woh pasand aa jayega?!

Naina: Accha meri maa! Mai kuch nahi batungi! Phir baat toh sahi hai, pyar bata ke thodi hota hai, pyar hone hota hai toh ho hi jaata hai!

Kashish had liked this guy, but she wasn't able to gather the courage to go and talk with him. Naina on the other hand went to talk to him.

Naina: Rahul. Rahul hai usska naam.

Kashish: Thank you soo much Naina! Thank you!!

Naina: tu khud kyu nahi gayi uss se baat karne ke liye? Mujhe kyu bheja?

Kashish: Naina, tu toh jaanti hai na, mujhe sharam aati hai uss se baat karne ke liye.

Naina teased Kashish for liking a guy in their class.

It had been almost 6 months that Kashish had been having a crush on Rahul. She used to see him from far away and then the closet she had seen him was when he came to talk to Naina. Slowly, Naina had come to become a friend of Rahul. The two used to talk to each other during the school. Naina always saw how Kashish used to look at him but she never had the courage to walk up to him and talk to him. Naina knew she should help her friend out.

One day, Naina went and talked with Rahul. Kashish saw them talking to each other. A girl, Anju, came and talked with Kashish.

Anju: Naina kitni chalak hai na, pehele Rahul ke sath dosti karti aur ab usske saath pyar kar rahi hai.

Kashish: Arre nahi, Naina tph Rahul se pyar hi nahi karti!

Anju: Mujhe toh kuch aur hi lag raha hai, dekho toh kaise paas khade hokar baat kar rahi hai. Mujhe toh lagta hai ko woh apni setting kar rahi hai Rahul ke sath.

Kashish didn't want to believe Anju, she knew that Naina knows that Kashish loves Rahul. She knew Naina wouldn't do anything like that.

Naina's side:

One day, Naina went and talked with Rahul.

Naina: Rahul, pata hai meri ek dost hai Kashish. Woh bohot acchi hai!

Rahul: ummm..waise Naina, tum free ho? Aaj coffee peene chalte hai, kya kehti ho?

Naina: Rahul! Mai yaha Kashish ki baat kar rahi hu aur tumhe coffee ki padi hai?

Rahul: okay, okay, sorry! Kya baat karni hai?

Naina: tumhe ek girlfriend chahiye na? I mean, you said ki tumhe girlfriend banani hai, par you don't know whom to ask. I've got you the perfect solution!

Rahul: mmmm....Naina, baat to sahi hai, mujhe ek girlfriend chahiye.

Naina: dekho, woh Kashish hai (she pointed at Kashish.) Kashish ko tum pasand ho, mai pehele seedhe nahi bolne wali thi par ab jaani ki tum dono ek jaise hi ho.

Rahul: ek jaise hai maane.

Naina: idiots! Tum dono budhu ho, jab tak seedhe na bolo tab tak samajhte hi nahi!

Rahul: okay madam! Abhi milta hu, practice ka time ho gaya hai.

Rahul left Naina. Naina knew now Rahul will soon go to Kashish and confront her about her feelings and then soon these two would love each other.
Naina was seeing a fantasy fairytale for her friend.

Kashish's side:

Kashish was sitting on her seat when Rahul approached her.

Rahul: Tum hi hona Kashish?

Kashish: Ha..mai..mai Kashish hu, hello.

Kashish couldn't believe it, she was talking to Rahul, her crush.

Rahul: Hello. Kashish mujhe tumse baat karni hai.

Kashish: Ji boliye

Rahul: Kashish, dekho, mujhe pata chala hai ki tumhe mujhse pyar hai. Par dekho, mai ek baat pakki karna chahta hu tumhare sath.

Kashish was now scared. She knew that Naina must've told Rahul that she loves him but kaunsi baat hai jo woh pakki karna chahta hai?

Rahul: Dekho Kashish, mai tumse pyar nahi karta, aur nahi kabhi karunga. Mujhe toh pehele se hi kisi se pyar hai.

Kashish was sad, she didn't want to hear that from him.

Rahul: dekho Kashish. Tum Naina ke sath bhi koi jhagda mat karna. Mai Naina se bohot pyar karta hu aur mai nahi chahta ki tum usse hurt karo. Main toh tumse baat karne bhi kabhi nahi aata agar Naina ne nahi kaha hota toh. Anyways bye.

Kashish couldn't believe it. "Anju was correct. Naina and Rahul love each other. Naina asked Rahul to come to me and clarify all the doubts so that I don't love Rahul anymore and Naina can. Naina tumne aisa kyu kiya?"
