I heard the click of the lock on my door and I slowly raised my head. I was exhausted. I honestly don't think I slept at all. I knew that sound meant it was time to start the day... all of my chores... and I would have to face Him.
I slowly got up and stretched. I could feel the bruises all over my body. I opened my door to the blinding light and blinked a couple of times to adjusted to the brightness. I headed to the kitchen to help prepare the breakfast for the Alpha and Luna.
"Good morning Four!" a cheerful glee rang as I entered the kitchen.
Ms. Adams, the head chef, was always in the kitchen working on the meals for the Alphas and in her free time for the rest of the pack. She was always coming up with new recipes and her food was to die for.
I looked up at her and gave her my best smile.
"Oh dear, what happened to you" she said as she walked over to me and cautiously looked me over.
A flash back of last night went through my head. I quickly thought of something.
I motioned to her using my hands. I pointed to myself, then used my finger to indicate walking and held my other hand as a ledge and showed the finger hand walk over the edge and tumble.
"Oh goodness, your lucky a fall like that didn't kill ya. Are you hurt bad. Do you need the pack medic" she said concerned.
If I went to the pack medic, they more than likely would not believe my story like Ms. Adams.
I shook my head rapidly, smiled, and gave her a thumbs up.
"Alright Four, if you say you're okay... the breakfast is ready to be served if you're okay too" she said worried.
I smiled once more and gave her a big thumbs up.
I gathered the plates on the wheeling tray and wheeled it into the dining area.
There was light chatter coming from the family.
As usual, the Alpha, Rais was at the head of the table sipping his morning coffee. The Luna, Rachel was beside him sipping her tea and beside her was their daughter, the beautiful Veronica also sipping tea.
Luna was the nicest woman you could ever meet. How she was mated to Rais... I have no idea. She was always so nice to me. She has been teaching me about the wolf pack, manners, spelling, writing, math, and very little sign signals, probably because she only knew very few. She and I have a little secret... to help with communication when we're alone, she bought me a device that I can type on and it talks for me! When she gave me this for my sixteenth birthday, she said it would be our little secret and she would hide it so Alpha wouldn't find it. She also gave me a name!!! She calls me Bree. She only calls me that in private due to the scalding looks she receives if she does it in front of Alpha. But I had a name it was mine. I mean I couldn't hear it 99% of the time but to be called an actual name instead of a number was amazing.
Veronica on the other hand... she seemed to think she was royalty. I mean yeah her parents were the Alpha and Luna of the Valley Pack but it was one of the lower packs in all of our district. She was kinda snooty. She seemed nice but I couldn't tell if it was just a Façade. As I wheeled the breakfast in, everyone looked at me and I greeted them with a warm smile.
I really hope Luna doesn't notice anything like Ms. Adams did. I hadn't even had the chance to look at myself to understand the damage done.
"Oh hun, what happened to your face" Luna said as she stood up and walked over to me.
I looked to Alpha who was giving me the death stare.
She put her hands around my face and examined me. I just smiled and motioned once me falling off my finger ledge and then gave her a thumbs up.
Alpha spoke up, "my dear girl, you'll have to be less clumsy. We don't want you getting too hurt, you're a big part of our family" he said jolly.
I forced a smile and tilted my head in a bow to show respect to Alpha ... for being so... generous.
