Lydia (Chryseis):

I don't belong in my past. Although, it would be a coward's trait to deny that I have been running away from it for the past few months now. After all, I have my reasons. I belong in Meraki, the rival kingdom, of which I am the Princess. Everything about me has been kept a secret since I was born. It wasn't because my parents wanted to protect me and care for me. It was only because I was different. In fact, the only person other than my parents to have seen me is Raven. We more or less grew up together. We're the same age. She is beautiful. She has auburn hair and green eyes. I like to believe I'm beautiful too. After all, unless I don't appreciate and love myself, no one else is going to. And in Meraki, that too? Love is just a mere word that can make two different worlds collide against each other. It's a mere feeling that can control your actions and make you look back into the past. I don't want that. I've been through heartbreak once and it was enough to know it was because I'm different. Pardon my rude behavior, I tend to jump into facts.

My name is Chryseis but in the Kingdom of Meraki, I'm known as Lydia. The sweet and caring Lydia who sells flowers and is fond of poetry when in reality, I'm Chryseis who could plunge a knife into your throat, and do the honors of letting you bleed to death. Don't worry, I most certainly do not do that to random people. Only to those who dare to cross my path and cause harm to me or my bestfriend. Only to those who backstab us. And only to those who dare to look into my eyes and swear to kill me one day.

If you think this is brutal, wait till you meet Raven. She can claw your eyeballs out with the way she uses her karambit.

It's been almost seven months since I escaped and the rumors finally seem to calm down. Apparently, a staff of my Kingdom backstabbed us and let out my real name. He backstabbed us. Meaning, he deserved my wrath and his eyeballs clawed out by Raven. He deserved the torturous death we gave him. Nobody betrays the Princess of Hiraeth and gets away with it. Thankfully, he only knew my name and not my appearance. Although, I did give him a chance to see this gorgeous face of mine before he died. This was when we were escaping.

Now, I can only practice my knife and sword skills when I'm alone or with Raven. During working hours, I can't let a guard risk seeing me work my knife and sword like a professional. Ever since I realized that I'm different, I've not let anyone dictate my place to me. Unless I have a wish to die, or worse, get Raven killed too, I need to keep up this act. When I know I'm strong enough, I'll be ready. Ready for revenge. Ready to avenge the King of Meraki for my father's death. Ready to avenge Ravana for my mother's death.

My identity must remain a secret. My real name must refrain from spreading further. My hands must desist the art of practicing using a knife and sword freely.

I must remain concealed.

okay so this was the prologue!!! i can't say for sure when i'll start uploading chapters but it's probably not going to be anytime soon because my finals start in march. so i'll most probably start uploading once i'm done with ember and phoenix (after my finals, mostly). thank you for your love and support on ember and phoenix!!! i really really appreciate it.

daily reminder: you're different than other. in every positive way possible. before putting yourself down, listen to your heart. accept your flaws and cherish them. work on them. whatever you feel like. but there's only one of you in this world. <3
