Archer's POV
"Archer, meet me in my office" my father says through the pack link. Without an answer I sigh and get up from my desk covered, which is covered in paperwork. Although I am not looking forward to this conversation, I am relieved for a break from all my work. My wolf has been on edge and wants to go out and run. The last thing he wants to do is have our father tell us what we are doing wrong with the pack.
He likes to think that he can keep telling me what to do. I have been the Alpha for almost 4 years. It is understandable for him to help her out when I was just starting at the age of 18, but now I have everything under control and do not need his help. He just needs to let go, and to tell you the truth, I don't know how much longer this pack could've stood him being Alpha. All the other packs hate us because he would accuse other Alphas of trivial things, and attack their packs without even thinking it through. As a result, we are at the top of most packs' kill lists. Sometimes, I just wish he would leave me alone and go find a hobby, like fishing. My life would be a lot easier.
I walk out of my office and down the hall to his office. I open the door without knocking. He looks up from his work when I barge in.
"What is it" I say, getting straight to the point.
"What? No, hello father. No, how are you?" he answers sarcastically. I give him a pointed look.
"Alright, alright. We need to talk." He knows that I don't like it when people tell me what to do, so whenever he wants to tell me what to do he starts like that. I go ahead and sit down in the chair across from his desk knowing this is going to be a long conversation. My wolf doesn't need this right now.
"You need to do something the Moon Crest Pack. They have been terrorizing our borders. Why are we just sitting here letting them get away with it?"
"I know father, and I am working on it in a civilized way." I say stressing the word civilized. "I don't want to attack them because I know that it will start a war. And that is is the last thing we need right now."
"Their wolves are crossing our borders and you are sitting at your desk 'working on it" He says sarcastically.
"What do you want me to do. Another war is the last thing we need. I was planning on having a meeting with Alpha Daniel later this week."
"I don't want that filthy Alpha on my lands," he states.
That is my last straw, my wolf can't take this, especially today. I shoot out of my chair and use my Alpha voice on my own father, "I am Alpha of this pack and you will respect me and my decisions. I am working on it! The reason no other packs like ours is because you would go and just attack everyone that bothered you! And now I have to fix all of your mistakes! So don't you dare go around telling me what to do anymore!"
I have no idea why I snapped like that. My father just stares at me with hurt in his eyes. I regret yelling at him like that, but it was probably time someone said something.
Before either of us could say anything else, the door swung open and my Beta, Alex, appeared.
"Alpha, a member of the Moon Crest Pack just crossed onto territory."
You have to be joking. This just makes me even more pissed off. I turn to my father only to see him give me a smirk. I wanted to punch him so badly.
Normally, I would just send Alex and a couple other warriors to check out the situation, but my wolf was telling me I should go this time. He needed to get out and run.
"Alright. I'm going with you. Mind link Jasper and tell him to meet us by the edge of the woods." Without another word, I walk out of my father's office with Alex trailing behind me. As I walked through the pack house, people immediately got out of my way noticing that I was in a bad mood. I opened the glass door to the kitchen and stepped out into the backyard. I shifted right away not waiting to get to the woods. Following my lead, Alex shifted also and we walked to the edge of the woods.
Just like I asked Jasper was there waiting. He is our head warrior and one of my best friends. We grew up together, the three of us. Me , Alex and Jasper. I nodded my head in his direction as an acknowledgement and continued walking into the woods. When Jasper finally changed I started to sprint. I ran towards our border.
As we started to approach the area the rogue was expected to be, I caught a new scent. I was the most wonderfully smelling thing in the world, vanilla and strawberries. I completely forgot about the mission as I started to follow the smell. They guys continued to follow me despite the confused expressions on their faces. Then they seemed to smell something too. However they didn't like the smell at all, they even growled at it. I ignored it and kept running, following the scent.
I soon came to a standstill as I saw a beautiful girl curled up on the ground at the base of a tree.
"Mate." My wolf howled in joy.
I just stood there in awe taking in my beautiful mate, her long brown hair, her red lips. She was perfect. I was broken out of my daze when I saw Jasper and Alex come out from behind a couple of trees in human forms with basketball shorts on. I walked over to the nearest tree and pulled out some shorts that we had stored out in tree in the woods for cases just like this. I shifted and pulled on my shorts.
When I turned around what I say had my blood boiling. Alex was walking toward my mate and growling. I gave out a low growl. "Touch her and you die," I told him through the pack link, not wanting to wake her up
"I'm sorry Alpha," he apologized in a very confused tone.
I realized that they didn't know that she was my mate. They still saw her a just another member of the Moon Crest Pack. I felt kinda bad for snapping at him, but nobody except me was going to be touching my mate.
I walked over to her and crouched down to her level. I then carefully tapped her shoulder. Her eyelids slowly fluttered open to reveal a pair of beautiful brown eyes. Her eyes met mine and my heart stopped.
