SIRENA

WAKE up it's time for school," Sirena said moving her brother gently.

Alonso pretended he was still sleeping but couldn't hide the smile on his face.

Sirena saw and smiled sweetly, "If you don't wake up, I guess I'll have to tickle you!" Sirena tickled her little brother causing her little brother to laugh.

"Stop! I'm up, I'm up!" Alonso tried to say between laughs.

"Well get ready or you'll be late for school! I'm gonna make breakfast," Sirena said getting up while pulling her brother up.

"Blueberry pancakes?!" Alonso asked with hope.

"I'll see what I can do. Now go!" Sirena patted her brother's back and went downstairs to make breakfast.

Once she was in the kitchen, she grabbed the ingredients to make pancakes and grabbed the container of blueberries to only see there weren't enough to make pancakes, so she decided to put them on the side.

Footsteps were heard making Sirena smile while mixing the batter.

"There's not enough blueberries to put on the pancakes, so you'll have to eat them on the sides," Sirena said.

"Awww! Will you go get some more?" Alonso asked.

"Probably before or after work but no promises," Sirena turned around to look at her little brother giving him a gentle smile.

Alonso returned the smile.

"Can you take out the orange juice, please?" Sirena asked while pouring the batter into the pan.

Alonso jumped down from his chair and went to get the juice. He took the juice carton with two hands and put it on the table. He climbed back up the chair and settled down.

"When will mom be back?" Alonso asked.

"Tonight or tomorrow morning," Sirena said while flipping the pancakes.

Sirena and Alonso's mother is a travel nurse so she's usually not home. Sirena has taken care of her little brother since she was 17. She doesn't mind it. She loves her brother and would do anything for him. Her dad died right when Sirena's mother gave birth to Alonso due to heart problems. Sirena tried not to cry whenever Alonso asked about his dad.
