Katie's POV:

I drop my suitcase and set my backpack down carefully. I push past Trevor and the other boys and run back up to my room quickly.

I open my old bedroom door and flick the switch on. I just stare at my empty side of the room, other than my bed and desk. I just stand in the doorway staring at the room.

I can't believe it. I am actually adopted. I walk over to the window and sit on the window sill. I look at the view.

I see the little ones running around while playing tag. All I can do is smile. Most of them don't even know they actually had a mom and dad. They just know that the people here in the center are their family.

I am snapped out of my thoughts by Ms. Duece's heels clicking on the wood floor. I hear them stop at the doorway, and I turn to face her.

"You are actually getting out of this place for what, the sixth time, yet you are still here." She says with a sickly smile.

"I'm leaving, alright?!" I spit at her.

"Listen, you have no right talking to me like that." She raises her hand to slap me, but I grab her wrist.

"You know better than that, young lady." She said with anger filling up her voice.

I smile a sheepish smile and say, "Ms. Duece."

I let go of her wrist and flick the lights off. I shut the door, only taking a moment to look over it before slamming it shut.

I push right past the old witch and start walking down the stairs. I stop at the front door, when the witch had to reply to me.

"I will see you back here soon, Kate!"

I spin around and look dead at her.

"My name is Katie." With that, I slam the adoption center door shut and walk to wear my suitcase and backpack had been left.

I look up, and Trevor was hanging out the window of the car.

"We put them up for you, Sass." I just laugh and smile at Trevor.

I walk to the car and Jc hops out. He opens the door for me. I look inside and see that I would have to sit in the middle. One problem with that, I am claustrophobic, and I can't sit in between people.

I kindly look up at Jc and I think he catches on because he climbs in the middle and allows me to sit by the window. I climb in and sit down on the seat. It is awkwardly quiet until Ricky speaks up.

"Your favorite song is Style, right?"

I nod my head and smile at him. He smiles back and unlocks his phone. Connor starts the car and we start backing out. He pulls out of the driveway and I just stare at the center. I hopefully will NEVER step foot back in there. At least as an adoptee.

I broke out of my thoughts when I hear "my" song.

Midnight

He come and picked me up no headlights

Long drive

But burnin' flames of paradise

I instantly start singing along with the music. I glance around the car and notice that the car is pulled over, and the boys are staring at me.

"What?" I ask confused.

"Oh nothing.." Connor adds and starts the car back up.

By the time all of that is over we are at the chorus.
