"ughhh... why?" I whined.
"Why what honey?" my mom said placing the last box in our car.
"why do we have to move to that stupid little town?"
"Honey, I got a job there and it's good for us to save some money you know your dad doesn't support us that well." My mom said annoyingly. She's annoyed with me great like always.
As we start driving I look back at our old house getting the last glance at the happy place I called home. Well, it wasn't really a happy place because there are a lot of bad memories as well but I have friends here.
"I have friends here!" I say quietly but in a mad tone.
"You're gonna find new friends in your new school." She said getting a bit frustrated. I've been on her nerves all day because of moving.
Most of the ride was quiet but that's good because I felt like she was going to explode when I said something.
I fell asleep and when I woke up I saw us pull up to a two-story house. Is this our new house? It was a little smaller than our old house and definitely needed renovation.
Compared to our neighbours houses it looked horrible. A house on the left is what really caught my eye. It was slightly bigger than the other ones and had greyish brick walls. it had some large windows and it had a small wrap-around porch at the front. There was a small car parked right beside the garage and an older-looking man stepped out of it.
I would not say that he looked that old either probably in his thirties or forties. He had long brownish hair and a beard.
I got out of the car and went to my mom who was taking out some boxes.
"But mom.." I started to say but my mom cut me off
"I don't want to hear it, honey!"
"All my friends and my whole life is in the city and now I have to live in this stupid small town!" I said almost screaming at her. I was really frustrated.
"Alexa stop! We've been over this already you're going to find new friends here and please just help me with the boxes!" she was really mad she called me Alexa usually she calls me honey or Lexa.
I just took one of the boxes and followed my mom, being clearly mad.
my mom unlocked the door and stepped in. I followed her and placed the box next to the other box.
We continued carrying boxes inside luckily there were not many.
"Mom but what about Jason you never let me meet him why can't I stay with him!" I said
"Do not say that name around me ever again he's not good for us!" she was clearly really mad so I stopped talking and carried the boxes inside.
As I entered my new room I was surprised because it was actually decently sized. Really not what I was thinking.
I sat on my new bed and looked around the room again.
There was a window that lead to the roof. Fun.
I went and looked out of the window and saw the older neighbours house and backyard. It was really beautiful and calming to look at. It's so weird that a house is calming to look at but it was.
"Honey come eat dinner!" my mom yelled from downstairs.
I went down and saw a bowl of ramen. "cool!" I'm not disappointed I like ramen noodles.
"Sorry you know I had to unpack and didn't really have time and we don't have other food, we need to go grocery shopping." She said.
We ate and I washed the dishes.
Soon after I started getting ready for bed. Since it was so hot I opened the window. right after I turned off the light and got to bed I saw a light coming from the window. And then I heard people talking. I got up curiously and looked out. The light was coming from the neighbors house. it looked so comforting this warm light that lit up the beautiful backyard. I saw two men standing in the backyard talking one was the older guy I saw earlier but I haven't seen the other one yet. The other guy was short with black hair and I could see that he had a lot of tattoos.
"It would be super rad!" The short one said.
"Yup! They will go crazy!" My new neighbor said
Who will go crazy? nevermind I should go to sleep.
When I opened my eyes the sun was shining through my room's window. It made my room look really cool. I looked at my phone and saw that it was 5.30 am. Even though it's beautiful I do need some curtains.
I tried to fall back asleep but I couldn't. I accidentally left my window open last night and there was a fly who just didn't want to shut up.
But I was woken up completely when I heard quiet singing from outside.
It sounded so calming and relaxing. Like an angel was singing. I couldn't hold myself back and got out of bed to look at who was singing.
The floor was cold under my bare feet which sent shivers down my back.
As I got to the window I saw my neighbor with his earphones in. He looked so peaceful. He was singing
a song I wasn't familiar with but I liked it.
I just stared at him in awe.
His voice was like a blessing to my ears and I found myself swinging to the song.
"Singing every piece as you walk by proving that with
All of my mistakes, that we are not the same" His angelic voice sang.
I didn't even want to go to bed anymore. I just wanted to stay here and listen. I was actually really interested in the song. But what song was it? Why was he singing at this early hour?
Soon he finished the song and looked around. When his face turned to face my window my heart skipped a beat. I quickly hid from the view so he couldn't see me.
In the evening I peeked out my window to see if maybe he was outside. I don't know why but there was something comforting about him. Overall, he gave me good vibes. I was like a stalker. But I just wanted to hear him sing again.
I opened my window and crawled out to the roof. Looking at the sun that was going down slowly I couldn't think of anything else than my life in the city. Maybe it's better for me here? No, it's not I don't even have friends here well the friends in the city were bad ones but they were still my friends.
I was brought back from my thoughts when a strong smell of coffee hit me in the face. Looked at the neighbours house and saw the older guy sitting on his back deck holding a mug. He was looking at me and when I looked at him he smiled. I smiled back because I couldn't resist his wide kinda cute smile.
I wondered how long has he been out here because the sun has almost gone down completely. But who even drinks coffee at night?
Well, it's not that late but still.
