Y/n povSchool was hell today. I have a school project and it seems I'm not getting anywhere with. My mom's been on my nerves lately.
My art teacher was mad at, because I haven't really been doing my work. Our art teacher is... well, an asshole, nicely saying. She... she is, something, for sure. I've been to her class twice, TWICE. I just transferred. Like I just got here, I didn't even know about the project. And she didn't even tell me about it. if I needed to do something, I would like to know what. But it's okay.
I have to choose an idea.
My head is empty. So I do what you usually do. Make myself a cup of tea, climb out of my window to the roof and sit there. To clear my head. And get some alone time, away from mom.
As I got on the roof, I realized, Gerard was outside already. Hmm... usually he comes to drink his coffee a bit later than this. I checked the time on my phone, making sure it wasn't that late already. It wasn't.
But he didn't have his coffee this time. Weird.
He looked towards me and we made slight eye contact. Shit. That was awkward. He just saw me staring at him. Great.I sat down, taking a small sip of my tea. As the sun was making it's way down, I heard subtle singing. I immediately smiled and looked towards Gerard's backyard.
He was sitting on a chair, in front of the pool. His beautiful voice making its way to my ears. I love his voice. It's so calming he could sing me to sleep, but I feel like, it can be the voice of your worst nightmare at the same time. I haven't heard him sing more intensely, I guess."So long and goodnight!". The last line he sang.
It has probably been quite some time since I got here, but I wasn't sure.
I didn't care. Every time he stopped singing, I wished the moments would have lasted a little longer. That I could hear his beautiful voice a little longer. Smell his coffee. Look at the sunset, just a little longer.Which was weird, he didn't have his coffee today.
For a moment, I felt like I was falling asleep, but not really? It was a weird feeling. I was tired and couldn't move, but didn't want to sleep.
As I closed my eyes for a second, to gather myself to get up, I heard a voice say:
"Hey! You there! Shouldn't you be heading to bed? I mean, I'm sure you have school tomorrow, right?" I looked around only to see Gerard looking at me."Ummm..." I studdered. As I reached for my phone to check the time,
"It's 11.25." He said, before I could even reach my phone."Oh shi- ummm, yeah, hehe, I should go to sleep."
"Yeah, you've been there for a while." He chuckled.
"Wait, shouldn't you be asleep as well?" I asked suprised, not really thinking."Yeah, you're right on that one, but I just can't sleep." He answered looking up at the sky, lining up the stars with his eyes
"Me neither." I said even though I was tired. I didn't want to go to sleep just yet.
"Oh! Okay, but if you don't mind me asking, are you okay?" He asked.
"Yeah, why?"
"Just when you got to the roof, you seemed a bit off, like... mad or something.""Yeah, just some things going on. But I have to ask, are YOU okay?" I asked.
"Yes why?" He chuckled.
"Because, you didn't bring your coffee like you usually do." I said looking at him."You noticed that? Well, I'm out of coffee and to be honest, I really wish I had some right now." He said standing close to the fence, looking up at me.
"Do you want to talk about what's going on?" He asked.
"Just some school project, my mom and... yeah." I sigh, getting frustrated.
"Okay... what project?"
"An art project, but you know, I just moved here, and I'm really behind on the project, and the teacher is mad at me." I blurted out without realizing it."Who's your teacher? Mrs Witt?" He asked.
"Yes."
"OH, I'm sorry... well it's not my place to talk about her with her students." He said.I was invested. How does he know her? And what is it that he was trying to say.
"Mhhmm, you can't just shut up now!" I said."Well... I haven't been in her class, of course, but I've heard some things, and also talked to her. But in my mind, she doesn't really let her students think, or use their imagination. Like.. she pushes things on them, not letting the kids be creative. I hope that makes sense." He said.
"Well, I've been in two of her classes and I completely agree with you. But how do you know her?"
"It's a small town, and I'm kinda an artist as well... we used to talk about our work. And she has said some things about her classes that make me concerned."
"Like what?" I questioned him.
"Well like how students are not listening to her, how they don't do things how she wants them to. Which I, myself would let kids be creative, but that's just my opinion."
He said.We talked for a little while.
"Okay, you should go to sleep before it gets too late..."
"You're right." I said getting up.
"Oh, and if you ever need help with your project, then I'm here and more than happy to help!""Okay... goodnight!" I said, trying to climb through my window.
"Goodnight!" He saiI collapsed on my bed and fell asleep right at that moment. I didn't even take off my jacket.I was surprised that he offered to help. But I would probably be too scared to ask for his help. Because I definitely need help. And it would be nice to hear someone else's thoughts on the work before submitting it.
