KELLIN'S POV
"Jesse hurry up!" I screamed into the phone, probably a little too angrily, but i didn't mean to sound rude. It's just that it's 9 degrees outside and I was left stranded in the cold after the rest of the band decided to ditch me and go get food. It doesn't sound fun, right? Well it's not.
"Okay! Calm down! We're driving up right now. Just give us 10 minutes!"
"Just try to get here as soon as possible please. I'm freezing my ass off!"
"I know. 10 minutes, I promise."
Jesse is a very loyal friend. I know they'll be here soon. I just can't be getting sick because I have a concert coming up in five days.
I went and sat on a near by bench. I couldn't see anyone around, and it almost looked deserted. This town is so small, it's almost...peaceful. That's a nice change, a really nice change, actually. The big cities that I'm always in while on tour are so hectic. I hate it. It's nice to finally have some time to myself, time that i can use to clear my mind and relax.
I pulled out my Ipod and put in both ear buds, cranking up the volume. When I listen to music, I loose myself in a sort of way. It allows me to escape the harsh realities of the world and focus on something I love. I can put all of my attention into piecing apart the harmonies and melodies, and forget everything for a little bit. It's a way - the only way- to express myself. It's what my life revolves around, and I most likely wouldn't be alive with out it.
I'm not really sure exactly how much time I spent sitting there, but i know that it felt way longer than 10 minutes. I started to get worried again so I pulled my phone out of my back pocket so i could call Jesse again. That's when I noticed the 6 missed calls.
I whispered "damn it" and flipped to his contact - number 3 under favorites. I could easily see my breath as the sharp, stinging cold was nipping at my nose and ears.
I paused the music, revealing the reality of dead silence from the city to my ears. I called Jesse and he picked up with a panicky voice.
"Kellin, we have a problem!"
"What's going on?" I replied.
"We accidentally ran over some broken glass that some idiot left in the street and now we have a flat tire. We're not going to be able to get you for a while."
I wanted to yell, so bad! But I kept my cool. I couldn't afford to loose my temper again. I let out a huge sigh.
"Okay. I'll find somewhere to go for now."
I started walking to see where I could go, and I noticed a little store named "Mike's Music Shop." I decided to go in and check it out. I've been looking for a new guitar, but I haven't been able to find one that I like. Maybe i would have a little luck there.
I opened the door and a little bell rang. The only person I see in here is a little girl and her mother. The girl is holding a music book labeled "Level 2 Piano." Then out of nowhere, she appears. She's so beautiful. Her bright blue eyes looked beautiful with her amazing dark hair. I couldn't believe my eyes. I've never seen a girl so....so perfect.
It took a minute or so, but i decided to go up and talk to her. It's now or never. I'm not going to be in this town for much longer. Her eyes looked deep into mine as I slowly made my way to her. My heart was racing and my hands got shaky. To most people, I don't seem like the kind of guy who would get nervous when it comes to women and romance, considering I'm in a band and all, but I am. It's something most people would never guess about me.
I took a deep breath and introduced myself.
"Hi." I said, giving a half-smile.
"Hey. Can I help you with anything?" She replied as she stood up to get a better look at my face.
"Uh...yeah! I've been looking for a new acoustic guitar. Can you help me find one?" I nervously said, stuttering a little bit.
"I'd be happy to!" She said enthusiastically.
About 20 minutes went by and we ended up sitting on a piano bench, having a thorough conversation about music. Words can't describe how amazing she is. She's the girl of my dreams. She has the same views on music as I do, which is very important to me, due to the fact my life revolves around music.
"I'm sorry you weren't able to find anything you liked." she said with a look of pity.
"It's okay. Coming in here was well worth it. In fact, I was wondering if you might want to hang out some time." This awful feeling in my stomach appeared right after i said that. I felt like throwing up.
She gave me a smile and walked over to the counter, staring at the floor the whole trip - still smiling, where the cash register sat. She pulled out a note pad and pen and wrote down a 10 digit number. Then she looked at me and said "Here you go. Call me sometime." Her smile was beautiful.
I said "Thanks", gave that half smile again, and left. I think that went pretty well. No, that went extremely well.
