((Hopefully this drawing I did is good enough for y'all to imagine what Silver and Coral look like! Marie just looks like Silver but with darker coloring))
Silver woke up to darkness and felt a large paw poking her shoulder, she moved her head up but couldn't open her eyes just yet.
"Wake up little one, we must be moving on to another den." the cat with the large paw stated, Silver knew it was her mother, she hadn't met any other cats since she was kitted, which was not very long ago.
She felt her mother grab her by the scruff and she didn't have time to protest against it, so she just stayed silent and focused on straining her ears to listen to everything around her. She heard her mother's paw steps, some birds chirping in the distance, and some other unknown sounds.
"Are we outside?" Silver asked her mother who was still carrying her.
"Yes, Silver. We are outside, you should try to open your eyes when we get to our destination so you can finally see our world." her mother said in an unusually stern tone.
She doesn't usually snap like that.
The different smells that were coming from the outdoors were cut off as Silver felt her tail brush past something and she was met with a stuffy feeling in her nose.
"Where are we now?" Silver asked, sniffling. Her mother shifted, placing Silver onto a soft space and curling around her.
"This is a home that other cats sleep in, but never stay at. There are things that walk on two paws that They call 'housefolk'. They leave food out for us to eat and there are nests for us to sleep in" Silver's mother stated.
An unfamiliar Tom-cat voice called out "hey Marie!"
Silver heard pawsteps moving towards her and her mother. Her mother, who's name Silver now knew was Marie, purred. "Coral, how are you?" Marie stated as she got up and walked off with the tom and continued talking, leaving her kit in the soft bed.
As Silver sat there, she took her kit paws and rubbed at her eyes, wanting to open them before her mother got back.
She tried to blink and then was blinded by a bright light, she closed her now functional eyes and put her paws over her face.
The let out a shrill wail, being shocked at the sudden light.
What was that??
She slowly removed her paws from her face and opened her eyes with caution, she saw the bright colors of the walls in the home, she saw the tan colored nest she was placed in by her mother, she saw everything.
She got so exited over all the thing she could see that she got up and looked all around her.
There's so much to see!
She stepped out of the bed and pricked her ears, listening for her mother's voice.
I wonder what she looks like.
She caught the faint scent of her mother and followed it, her paws cold on the hardwood floor.
"Marie!" the young she-kit called out. "I opened my eyes!" She ran up to her mother who was still talking to the tom named Coral.
Silver now saw that her mother was a dark grey tabby with a white underbelly similar to what Silver has. Coral was a large dark russet tabby with a lighter tawny belly and paws.
"Hey there little kit!" Coral turned to Silver and looked down at her, purring loudly.
"Hi! I can see you!" Silver meowed happily, bouncing on her large paws, those similar to her mother's.
"I can see that!" Coral's eyes sparkled.
"look Marie! Silver opened her eyes!" Coral used his tail to point at Silver, and Marie looked down at Silver blankily.
"Good job little one, now you can play and learn how to hunt for food. Coral, how about you take her to the garden and play with her for a bit?" Marie looked hopefully at Coral, her tail swaying gently.
"Oh, yeah I guess I could." There was a slight bit of anger in Coral's eyes as he looked at Marie, and Silver didn't understand why.
Coral's eyes changed back to pure joy when he turned back to Silver as he curled his soft tail around her.
"let's go to the garden, I'll teach you about all the smells and sights!" This made Silver purr, and she followed Coral to the the large white door with a tiny door in it that had a flap near the bottom middle of the big door.
Coral took his paw and gently moved the small door, "I'll help you get through it, don't worry." Coral stated as he slid through the little flap and poked his head through from the other side.
"All you gotta do is push on it with your paws, I'll be other the other side here to make sure you get through" Coral cleared his head from the door and purred from the other side.
So simple, yet, so complicated.
Silver gently pawed at the flap and it opened up a bit, she could smell Coral and plant life on the other side as she stuck her nose through the opening she made with her paws.
"There you go!" She heard Coral Mew from the other side as she stuck her entire head through.
She put the rest of her body through and felt the refreshing air of the outside flood over her, she curled her tail over her back as she stretched, enjoying the cool tile beneath her paws and the warm sun on her pelt.
"You ready to explore the garden?" Coral said gently yet excitedly.
Silver padded over to him and nodded, her ears pricked. Coral guided her over to the edges of the garden where there were flowers and bushes.
"Generally in the wild, the flowers aren't as potent, I would love to take you there, but I don't think your mother would take kindly to me taking you over the fence." Coral mewed, obviously wanting to take Silver over the fence into the place beyond.
"What's over the fence?" Silver asked, wondering why Coral was so intrigued by it.
Coral looked towards the fence "there are territories, clan territories, 5 to be exact. The cats in the territories are called either warriors or apprentices, those cats protect their territories and clanmates. They would give their life for eachother." Coral sighed, continuing.
"The warriors fight each other over prey and territory, and their kits get mischievous when they find out about apprenticeship. There is also foxes and badgers, along with other creatures and things that could kill a cat with ease. It's dangerous out there, but that's why the cats in clans stay together"
Coral's eyes sparkled, and silver tilted her head questioningly.Silver's curiosity nearly peaked "Do you want to join them?"
Coral looked at her, his eyes dark but sympathetic. "They wouldn't let a fully grown 'Loner' into their ranks, maybe a kit like you, but not a fully grown cat without 'clan blood'." He spitted half-angrily.
"Why do you know so much about them?" Silver asked, trying to change the mood but stay in topic because she was actually interested.
"Oh... Well, I used to talk to one of the clan cats, he ranted to me and I listened and asked some questions here and there." Coral's eyes sparkled with sadness.
"then one day he told me he had a battle, and he never came back, I couldn't go to the territory to see if he was okay because I would've been injured, or worse..."
Silver felt bad for reminding Coral of a bad memory, so she pawed at his long front legs. "Sorry about reminding you of that... Let's play! Do you know what we can play with around with here?"
