Green Leaves and Yellow Lives

I started the next day by traveling to the desert, where Scar and Grian lived. I wanted to get a lot of sand before they actually established their territory.

They had started to plant a cactus wall around the desert to protect the sand. Torches were everywhere, probably to ward off the monsters at night. Grian was at the top of a mountain, staring down at something in the dunes. After a minute, I saw Scar, running around. So he was what Grian was looking at.

I also spotted a random cobblestone box in the middle of the desert. Walking up to it, I saw a small window that showed a poor white llama trapped inside. I decided to free it later, once I had gotten what I needed.

Scar had somehow gotten back on top of the mountain, and he and Grian were doing something up there. Shifting my gaze, I saw three people going up the mountain. I ran to see what they were up to.

Since they were walking and I was running, I caught up to them quickly. I soon discovered that it was Tango, Cleo, and Impulse, headed to talk to Scar about sand and glass. We greeted each other and headed up together. I didn't really have or want a reason to see the two biggest troublemakers on the server, but it was free entertainment and I was bored.

Tango was the first one to the top. Scar greeted him with a "Welcome to Monopoly Mountain!" Grian just used a simple, "Hey, Tango."

Then the rest of us arrived. Scar and Grian were suddenly so overwhelmed by the amount of people on Monopoly Mountain all trying to talk over each other that they barely noticed when Tango said, "There was a llama in a cobblestone box… was that yours?"

Scar's eyes brightened. "Oh yeah, that's Pizza. He's our mascot." Behind him, Grian put a hand over his eyes and shook his head.

"It's dead," Tango said.

"WHAT?" Grian and Scar exclaimed in unison.

"Come on, I'll show you."

I had just seen that llama. I knew it was alive. But Scar didn't, so he ran down the hill and threatened to go as far as kill Tango if the information wasn't a lie.

"You can't kill people, Scar," Grian said. "And be more careful, you're going to fall down the mountain and die."

"You killed me," Scar responded.

Grian turned bright red. "That was an accident. And now I owe you my green life, so you can't complain."

So that was why Grian had joined Scar after being so reluctant before. He felt guilty after the creeper attack and decided to be Scar's Number Two until he also lost his first life. Poor Grian, maybe he was only chaotic because Scar told him to be.

Actually, I doubted that.

Scar and Grian were both relieved and angry when they saw Pizza alive and well in his place. I glanced at Cleo and could tell she was already figuring out how she could use the pet to make them do what she wanted.

If you can't tell already, I was decent at reading people.

"Cleo, you should give me your chestplate," Scar said out of the blue.

"What?"

"Yeah."

"No!"

Impulse, Tango, Grian, and I looked back and forth between the two, following the argument.

"What if I told you it would increase your reputation?"

"What's that supposed to mean?"

"You know how in video games (out of all people, Scar gained the most random memories) you get reputation and you become better and better friends and then finally allies? I'll even give you my chestplate so you can go enchant it."
