The creeping sense of foreboding followed Flora as she exited the palace through the back entrance. Sunlight was pouring out the windows lighting up every hallway.
Flora passed the Hall of Generations, which was a special wall with the family tree inscribed with portraits of beloved queens and their relatives. All the frames were adorned with precious stones, but the queens' frames had rainbow ones. She saw her own picture on the wall, and she also saw Queen Reborn's picture on the wall, she looked regal and imposing as if she expected a lot from you.
That'll be me soon, Flora thought, After tomorrow, they're going to add rainbow jewels on my frame too.
The soon-to-be queen made it to the courtyard and saw a lot of preparations- many servants were arranging the buffet and carrying supplies to the front of the palace where the ceremony was going to be held. "Good morning, Your Highness" one of them said when he saw Flora. "Going somewhere?" "Yeah, I'm going to find my friends." she replied as she spread her wings to take off. "Well have fun!"
Flora felt the wind against her butterfly wings and flew with content. She could see the flower fields from below blooming beautifully. In the distance was the Mythwing village filled with citizens who worked diligently to take care of their environment. The weather was fair, perfect for spending the day outside with friends. It felt like heaven- like she could throw all her worries away. Finally she saw them.
Well, technically they saw her first and decided to tackle her midair, that is. "AHHH!" she yelped as she tried to regain her balance. "Blossom! Iris! I thought we agreed never to do that. You could knock someone out of the air!" "Sorry, sorry!" Iris said, trying not to laugh.
Iris was the smartest student in school from what Flora heard, and he was also the popular dragon because he was very likeable and fun loving. (although sometimes a little mischievous or immature). He had shimmery sky blue scales, indigo designs, and violet eyes.
Flora couldn't go to regular school, since she was busy with princess etiquette lessons and blah blah. Even if she begged her parents to go to normal school, they'd still send royal guards to look after her in front of her friends, and, oh, how embarrassing that'd be.
"Iris, stop, it's not funny. Imagine if you were the one getting knocked out of flight," Blossom scolded.
Blossom was a different story. She had somewhat of a cool and collected attitude, and obviously very mature and smart. She had lavender scales mixed with silver designs and white wings. Her yellow eyes always seemed to be scanning her surroundings, like built-in cameras.
The three have been best friends for five years, and they always stuck together. Iris and Blossom got a little extra respect from everyone though, since being friends with royalty was apparently an honor.
"No, it's fine, really." Flora said. "Where were you guys?"
"We were waiting for you at the front of the castle, but you never came. Then Iris convinced me to check the back entrance and the tackled you when he saw you flying," Blossom rolled her eyes. "The decorations for your ceremony look beautiful, by the way."
"I'm sure they do." Flora replied.
"The front gate looks amazing!" Iris exclaimed. "Hey, you wanna go back to the castle and watch them get everything ready? Maybe even help out a little."
"No no, that's...fine." Flora said in a hurry. That was the last thing she needed anyway. "Um, actually, I was hoping we could hang out together, just the three of us."
Blossom and Iris looked at each other. "Yeah, we can do that too." Iris nodded. "Sure," Blossom agreed.
"Let's start with air tag," the blue dragon smirked.
