Chapter 4: Breaking Down

Jett woke up to movements next to her. Sage had woken up a while ago but decided to stay with Jett in the position they're in.

Jett looked up at Sage's brown eyes and asked "mom?"

Sage blinked.. w h a t ?

Staring down into her tired blue eyes, "she's so cute".

If only, staying in that position forever was possible, but no it had to end

Sage sighed as they moved away from the position and headed back to their dorms to prepare themselves.

Brimstone had gathered all of them for a talk in the range, he had announced that there would be a mission that would take place in 3 days on a map named "Icebox" and he needed five agents for the mission.

He picked out Sage for her heals, Omen for his smokes, Viper for her toxins, Cypher for his tripwires and... Jett, to entry for the team.

"This is a very important mission and i'm entrusting the five of you to complete it," Brimstone added.

Cypher had opened his mouth to protest about entrusting Jett to have the most important role for this mission, only to receive a glare from Brimstone.

"Jett is our ally, even if it's temporary i still want all of you to treat her respectfully and trust her."

Cypher was still uncomfortable with the idea of Jett being on the same team as him but had no choice to accept it as he walked back to his dorms.

"You may leave, prepare well"

Jett was their enemy... a temporary ally, it hit her when she received the words he said..

She couldn't help but feel disappointment in herself for being a half-assed warrior at that moment. Which side was she on? Valorant or Kingdom.

Kingdom gave her a meaning to live, they gave her power and drive to live.. but Valorant gave her something that she had never felt before, a place that would she would be able to call home and a feeling of nervousness and a rush of excitement, that would make her heart start racing because of a certain person that she had met recently.

Jett was exhausted, she plops onto her bed and closes her eyes while thinking about what she should do next and.. Sage as she falls asleep.

Sage stayed a little bit longer to help brimstone with the planning, she sneaked a little peek to her left to
look at Jett who was walking back to her dorm. She decided to check up on Jett after she was finished with the planning.

BANG. BANG. BANG.
Three gunshot sounds were heard while she closed her eyes and covered her ears with her hands.

Silence... the child looks up after a thud sound was heard.

...She felt her heart dropped...

A dead body, not just any dead body, her aunt was on the groud, blood was oozing from the wound that she had just received..

No..
No No No..
NO. NO. NO. NO..
STOP IT PLEASE..

"You're next."

The gun was now pointed at her head... BANG-

She flinched and opened her eyes... she was scared and was feeling so many emotions at that very moment, please.. somebody... anybody... please.. help me...

Jett always had severe anxiety problems. It all started when she was 12, she had a panic attack no one was there for her, when she was 14, there was still no one.. after the second time she experienced anxiety attacks.. it started getting more often to the point it has been driving her crazy...

..but this time it will be different.

A knocking sound from the door was heard...

She was afraid, anxious, shaking.. as she begins breathing heavily her panic level rises as she reaches for the door knob and turns it, it was her, Sage.

"Jett? You're sweating so much are you okay ?!"

Jett fell into Sage's warm embrace without saying a word. Her scent, her brown and worried eyes and her warm embrace... it was all enough for Jett.

Sage moved Jett onto the bed without breaking their embrace.

Jett, the strongest wind assassin that works for Kingdom is now on the bed, she looks so scared..and fragile... she looks like as if she would break if she broke the embrace...

Jett rested her head onto Sage's chest.. and eventually fell asleep.

Sage listened to Jett's soft breathes while watching her look so peaceful

Her heart started racing as she felt her cheeks heating up..

She sighed and rested her chin onto Jett's head.

"What am I going to do with you..."
