This all started three days ago, when Alex had come to his "house" if you could call it that, as it was really more of just one large room that he shared with his best friend and girlfriend Sandra, and had found it ransacked and Sandra missing. He immediately started panicking and went about in a frenzy looking something, anything, to tell him who had done this and taken his beloved Sandra. He further tore apart the room looking, and spent over 30 minutes searching in a mad fury, before telling himself to calm down and take a deep breath. He wasn't helping her by freaking out. after calming himself down, he took a good look around the room taking in every detail. from the bed with the torn up mattress in the corner, to the graffiti in red and blue by the door.
And then there, right behind the door.
The paw of a cat, sitting there all bloody and torn up looking.
Right then and there, Alex's heart almost stopped. The amount of fear racing through his body was indescribable. He just kept thinking, "No, not the Black Claw. Anybody but the Black Claw."
He stood there in shock, with tears escaping his eyes and raining down on the cold cement floor, causing a small flood. As he stood there, he started reminiscing about how he and Sandra had come to live in this once secret room.
It was 5 months ago. They had been running from another gang, Él Chupacabra, after having stolen some food and weapons from one of the stores operated by Él Chupacabra. They were being chased by a dozen men, all riding in vehicles, and were just then realizing that this was a really stupid idea. The sprinted down an alleyway and climbed over the wall, into the next street, taking random turns and not knowing where they were going, just trying to lose their pursuers. Suddenly, Sandra stepped in hole and went tumbling down and started rolling. She rolled for about 7 ft before disappearing through an alleyway Alex had never known existed. He followed after her and found her laying up against a door, cradling her ankle and tears streaming down her face. He ran over and helped her up, comforting her, and tried to open the door. It was stuck, so he jiggled it a little bit and then rammed his shoulder into it. it came free and he tumbled in, still holding Sandra, causing her to cry out in pain. He got up and closed the door, then coming back to Sandra right after. He couldn't see much, so he took his pocket flash light out to search for any other source of light. He found a stack of candles sitting in the corner and brought three of them over and lit them with his lighter that he had. Finally being able to see better, he took a look at Sandra's leg. Her ankle was twisted to the side and was black and blue and extremely swollen. He figured it was probably broken, and told Sandra he was going to have to set the bone. He gave her a rag to bite down on and reached down and twisted quickly, putting her ankle back in place. She screamed into the cloth and started sobbing, the pain clear in her eyes. Alex, hating to see her in so much pain, came up next to her and gently stroked her hair, until she slowly drifted off to sleep. He gave a kiss on the forehead, and stood up to explore their surroundings. He took one of the candles and walked around the room. He figured it was about 20 ft long and 15 ft wide and used to be an old storage shed or something, since there was lots of junk scattered around the room. It was clear that no one had been in there for awhile, since there was a thick layer of duct covering everything except where he had walked with Sandra. They had lived there ever since, and had found a lot of supplies they could use, like a mattress and bed frame, some matches, a first aid kit and even a few knives and other weapons. As Sandra recovered, they had started to fix the place up, and even made it a little cozy. The only things they need to leave for was food and water. Other than that, they had everything they needed. They had often talked of plans to escape the city unseen, and had even gone as far as to make an entire plan revolving around the unnatural amount of dogs in the city. This plan, which involved dressing up in dog costumes and walking out, needless to say, wasn't actually performed. But now, the Black Claw had discovered their secret room, and had taken the person Alex loved more then anything on the Earth, and would do anything to protect. By doing that, they had made a very costly mistake, as Alex would stop at nothing to get Sandra back safe.
