Aaliyah's POVA week passed, and I still hadn't decided if I wanted Chris to teach me or if I wanted a tutor.
School was coming up very soon, and I'd need to make a decision quickly.
I just still wasn't sure. Maybe I should just go to public school and make it easy for everyone.
I mean, Chris had spent most of the week in his studio, so he was clearly busy with something. Wouldn't he be too busy to homeschool me?
Speaking of Chris, I wondered what he was working on. He seemed to have his mind full of music, at least more than usual, and I couldn't help but wonder what he was working on.
I was kind of beginning to miss hanging out with him. He had been in the studio for quite some time, and I wasn't seeing him as much.
I mean, I knew I could go down there and all, but I really didn't want to bother him.
If he was busy, I'm sure he needed his space.
So, I spent a lot of time upstairs, listening to music and watching old reruns of Doctor Who.
I was listening to OneRepublic while laying on the couch when he ended up coming upstairs.
I was kind of dosing off, so I didn't think much of it until I felt myself being poked. Repeatedly.
I opened my eyes, and Chris was there, smiling at me.
"Hi." He said.
"Hi, Dad." I mumbled, sitting up and rubbing my eyes.
"I was thinking," he said, sitting beside me. "Maybe we should go out today. I'm a little bored and I miss the fresh air."
"Oh?" I said. "Where to?"
"I don't know, maybe for a walk?" He asked. "I mean, it's almost lunch. What if we called the band and went for a picnic?"
"That would be fun." I nodded.
"You think?" He Asked, his eyes lighting up.
"Yeah! We haven't seen them in a bit." I Said. "Plus, I'm hungry."
"Great!" He exclaimed. "I'll go call Jonny, and he can call Phil, then Phil can call Guy, and then-"
I laughed. "Why don't you just send them all a text?"
"Oh. That works, too." He laughed a little, pulling out his phone.
As he typed, he hummed to himself. It was an unfamiliar tune to me, and I couldn't help what it was.
He hummed for a few minutes more as I sat there, almost awkwardly waiting for him to text the band.
"You know, Dad.." I mumbled, and he looked up at me. "You can do a group chat. That way, you don't need to do them individually.."
"Really?" He asked.
"Yeah. Here, let me show you." I reached for his phone, and he handed it to me.
I pressed the new message icon, before adding all four of the boy's contacts.
I gave him his phone back. "There, now send your text." I smiled at him, and he smiled back.
"Thanks, Aaliyah." He said, before looking back down at his phone.
He continued humming, beginning to write his text to the entire band.
"Hey, Dad?" I Asked, and he looked up at me again. "What's that song your humming?"
He looked back down at his phone, resuming his texting. "It's a song I'm working on, actually." He answered.
"You're working on music again?" I Asked.
I had already guessed that he was, but him confirming it made me happy. I'd get to see the entire album process and all, and that was pretty exciting to me.
"Yep." He said. "I was actually wondering if you'd like to help out if we end up recording?"
I wouldn't just get to watch the album be made, I'd get to help, too?
"Really?" I Asked.
"Yeah!" He said. "Since you're fantastic at singing, I'd love to have you sing if we record some songs."
I smiled, before hugging him tightly. "That would be awesome!"
He laughed surprisedly. "I'm glad you're excited." He said. "I was actually thinking about telling the band that I'm working on something today."
"That's great!" I exclaimed.
"And, speaking of that.." he said. "I just sent the message."
He turned off his phone, before looking at me. "Should we go put on our shoes?"
"Already? They haven't even texted back yet." I laughed a little.
"Maybe we can walk to the park?" He asked. "It's a lovely day."
I bit my lip. "I don't know, Dad.." I Said. "After just getting out of the hospital and all.."
"Hey, I'm fine!" He said, giving me a reassuring smile. "I'm feeling better then ever, actually."
"Are you sure?" I Asked.
He had been acting funny for the past week. Maybe it was just me, but it seemed like something was up.
I hoped he would tell me if something was wrong, though.
I mean, he would, right?
