With the sun having set for the day, the time of dusk had begun, as mystic and enchanting as its name suggested. The innocent light of the dying sun shining through the window panes became overtaken by the mischievous air of the young night, from which emerged the secret passions of lovers lost, and countless dreams of love reciprocated, and the forbidden truths left untold in the dawn.

Returning from the sitting room where she had been reading a most un-amusing novel to pass the time, making her way towards the large staircase leading to the second floor, Analisse began to hear some soft jazz music coming from a different room. Curious as to where this music was coming from – as from what she had noticed thus far, this hotel was rather bleak and did not welcome many guest – she decided to follow the faint music.

With slow and careful steps, following the ever growing sounds of the muffled music, she was led to a desolate and far off back part of the house. Down a dark and narrow windowless hallway she ventured cautiously. Finally she was met before a tall and intricately designed wooden door with a gold plated frame.

As she stood there for a few moments unsure if she should entice her curiosity, finally, unable to resist the beckoning temptation of this unknown room, with a mighty pull of the door, she was finally able to open the door just slightly, enough where she could fit her small figure through the crack.

As she began to descend a set of large, winding stairs, she felt that everything was happening so quickly, feel overcome with different sensory sensations. This basement room was noticeably warmer than the upstairs, and the heavy smell of cigar smoke was almost unbearable. She could hear many voices of those laughing or discussing, perhaps having a drink as there were the noises of glasses clinking together.

Finally arriving at the bottom of the staircase, she was in awe of the luxurious feel the lounge possessed.

It had tall ceilings, dim lighting, and a dark-red theme which gave the room a much more ornate and intimate feel. Maroon colored curtains draped the walls, as a large circular bar centered the expanse of the lounge. Red velvet seating and private booths lined the boundaries of the room.

The lounge, of a medium size, was to full capacity, though it was rather early in the evening. Of the people that she could see, most were couples or groups of friends. Everyone was dressed in most exquisite and refined attire. Simple yet classy. Most appeared to be European, but once in a while she would spot a few foreigners.

Analisse had never been in a lounge, not to mention a bar, and as exciting as this experience was beginning to appear, just as quickly did she begin to think about how her mother would react if she knew where she was. Analisse reasoned that her mother would be infuriated and deeply disappointed in her.

Despite knowing this, she was reluctant to leave as curiosity and fascination enraptured her every sense of logic. Looking at her dress compared to that of the other guests, she looked either to young or naïve to be in such an establishment.
