A chill washes over me as the green eyes of my best friend stare at me with an intensity I've never known Casey to posses. A frown fixated on his face a little crease forms between his eye brows and Raine growls at him low in the back of her throat.

"Casey?" I ask again, fighting the slowly rising urge to run away.

"So they came for you." He says in an emotionless voice.

"Who?"

His eyes narrow and his features sharpen harshly giving him an other worldly appearance. "The witches Elisea. I knew it was a sign when they moved here. I was just foolish to hope that you wouldn't be dragged into their world."

My stomach drops. "The witches? Casey, are you okay? Witches? Witches are just fairy tales right?  Do you know what's happening?" I reach out to him and he flinches. Actually flinches away from me. Me. His best friend of all people.

"Nothing to be helped since you're poison now." His words drip with venom and the look of disgust he throws my way tears my heart in two.

"Poison? Caz, I don't know what you're talking about. No one has come for me. I just had someone break into my house. I'm so confused. And scared. I need help. I need you. What's going on?" My tears spill down my cheeks as he keeps backing away from me.

A look of pure agony flashes in his eyes but its gone in seconds and he turns away from me to an approaching woman with sharp facial features and a bow and quiver full of arrows strapped across her back. She gives me the same condescending look as Casey before turning to him. Thick silver hair like liquid moonlight cascades down her back in rippling waves and a thin black cord hold the voluminous tresses back, just revealing the tips of pointed ears. Okay, now I'm REALLY going crazy.

"This is her?" She sneers gesturing to me.

Sighing Casey runs his hand through his hair, such a familiar gesture... "Placere parcere, exaudi me." I shiver as the words wash over me, an old language no doubt.

Raine, however, doesn't seem to like them and snarls menacingly at the two as their conversation becomes more heated and the words being to blend together into a symphony of sound. As they speak the back of my neck begins to burn and I frown, scratching at it.

Suddenly they both stop talking and look at me. The girl, annoyed, walks over and kneels down in front of me. Leaning back I stare wide eyed past her to Casey who has a look of almost regret on his face and I see him mouth I'm sorry before my attention is pulled back to the woman in front of me who has grabbed my face. Pulling my head forward she lifts my hair looking at the back of my neck.

"Shit." She mumbles, pulling my faceback up to look into he eyes, the same piercing green as Casey's.

"Now this will leave you a little dizzy, but you shouldn't remember a thing." Although her face is harsh her voice takes on a surprisingly soft tone and you can hear a hint of an unknown accent through it before everything goes black. But before I completely fade away I hear, "She's only alive because you asked me to let her live Casey."

The blare of my alarm clock makes me jolt out of sleep and I look around frantically before I recognize my surroundings. Sitting up in my bed my head starts to throb. Neck burning I rech back to scratch it and feel a bump under my finger tips. Running to a mirror I lift up my hair to try and see what it is. Red and undefined it looks like a bug bite. But why does it itch so damn much.

"Ahhh." I hiss as I squeeze my eyes shut and hold my head in my hands. A soft whimper causes me to look over at the corner of my bed where I see Raine curled up sound asleep.
