"Hey Lisa how was class?" Casey bumps his shoulder playfully into mine as he joins me on our walk to my van after school. Looking straight ahead I keep noticing him sneaking looks at my neck. What is he looking for?
"I don't really want to talk about it." I mumble as I get into my front seat and slam the door.
"Okay miss Moody who pissed in your cheerios this morning?"
"I said I don't want to talk about it right now Casey." I say frowning as I recognize two familiar forms walking towards my van. You've got to be kidding me.
I start my van and go to pull away when Raya waves her hand at me, trying to flag me down.
"Hey, aren't those the new kids? From your class?" I shoot a glare at him and go to shift into reverse when he pulls the keys put of my ignition and opens his door, waving them over.
"Casey what the hell." I hiss through my teeth.
"Be nice. I seem to remember a girl in middle school in their position not too long ago." He chides me and smiles as they walk up to my window. I sigh and roll it down, not bothering to smile.
"Hi." Raya beams at me while Jace is glued into a book. How he can walk and read at the same time is beyond me. I can't even walk alone let alone add a second task into it.
"Hey, did you guys need something?" Casey says, equally as nice since he could see I had little to no inclination to talk to her.
"Actually we were wondering if we could trouble you for a ride home. We recognize Elisea from class. We can pay you, and it'll be just for today I promise. Our brother forgot he had to get us for our first day until our parents get here with the car tonight." She gushes and I can see the pink of embarrassment flush her milky features as she realizes she's babbling. I crack a smile and unlock my doors. Why the hell not.
"Sure, get in. If anything's on the seat you can throw it into the back of the van."
A relieved smile spreads across her face and she drags her brother around my van to the sliding door on the passenger side and they climb in.
"Where do you live?" Casey asks politely as he hands me my keys, earning us an amused look from Jace, as if he knew why he had my keys in the first place.
"We live actually just outside city limits in the old McAlister house."
I nearly choke on my water and cough violently for about twenty minutes as Casey smiles at me being an idiot and Jace and Raya look at me with concern. When I can finally breathe she asks me if I know the house.
"Yeah. I know it. Everyone in town knows that house. Its got history." I say starting my van a second time.
"Oh. I see. I hope it's not too far out of the way for you." Raya muses.
"Not at all that's actually just a couple miles down the road from Elisea's place." Casey says, grinning evilly. I'm going to kill you. I glare out the window. And drive.
Pulling down a long dirt driveway I frown as we approach the house. An unkempt front lawn and the dark Windows don't make it look like anyone has moved in aside from the brand new lawn mover and the trailer of stuff sitting just off to the side. Pulling to a stop and turning around just before the concrete slab that is in front of their drive way I let the twins get out. Jace immediately b-lines while Raya comes over to my window and smiles at me.
"Thanks for the ride." She frowns in her brothers direction. "He says thanks too but he's a jerk."
I smile. "No problem. And I think he's just anti social. I can understand it."
