Chapter 14: Traveler

Liana walks into the barn seeing it as a mess. Chloe walks in and says, "Liana? Hey, I came as soon as I got your... Oh, my God. What happened?" Liana says, "I don't know. I came home and Clark was gone. He talked about going to the fortress." Chloe says, "Last time he went to the fortress Jor-El trapped him in ice for a month. Why would he chance the big chill a second time?" Liana says, "We just found out that Kara moved in with Lex at the mansion. Clark was hoping that Jor-El would give her back her memories and her powers." Chloe says, "Before Lex uncovers her secret. He wanted to get up there fast, but he needed something from the loft first." Chloe goes up the stairs of the loft and opens a book. Chloe says, "I don't think he got what he came in here for. This key opens the portal to the fortress." Liana says, "How did you know that?" Chloe says, "I kind of followed him there a couple of years ago." Liana says, "If the key's still here..." Chloe says, "Then he never made it to the fortress so something must have stopped him." Liana sees something on the ground and goes to is but gets sick. Chloe notices and picks up the needle with Kryptonite. Later, they go see Lionel. Lionel's on the phone and Liana says, "Lionel." Lionel says, "Liana. Miss Sullivan. I've got my people searching. Discreetly, of course, the government agencies. If any of them are responsible for taking Clark we'll know very soon." Liana says, "Maybe you could help." Chloe hands Lionel the Kryptonite dart and she says, "Do you know what this is?" Lionel says, "I... believe it's an electrode probably from a Taser gun. This is Kryptonite." Liana says, "We found it in the barn after Clark was taken. As far as we know, everyone that knows about Clark's weakness are in this room, except Lana. It wasn't Chloe, it wasn't Lana, and it wasn't me." Lionel says, "What about Kara? I told you and Clark she'd been spending time with Lex. Now she's moved in with him." Chloe says, "But her memory--" Lionel cuts Chloe off and says, "Might be coming back, little by little. It wouldn't take much. Just a few simple words. Enough for Lex to work out Clark's secret. Oh, I'd hate to think that my son is responsible for any of this." Chloe says, "This is Clark's worst fear." Lionel says, "Wait a minute. LX Dynamics. LX Dynamics has military contracts developing combat technologies. I'll do some research to see if any of it involves electroshock or--" Liana says, "If he harms Clark, I will kill him." Lionel looks at Liana and says, "I'll deal with him, Liana. He's my son. I want Clark back safely as much as you do."

The next day, Liana walks into the Daily Planet and says, "Chloe, I dug around for some information on LX Dynamics. Lionel was right. Lex is having them build experimental Tasers for the military." Chloe says, "Actually, I've been wielding my own shovel and I think I may have found where Clark is being held. About a year and a half ago, LuthorCorp bought an abandoned airstrip just outside the city. Now, they've rebuilt the hangar. Check out the construction manifest." Liana reads off and says, "'Concrete reinforced Plexiglas in a ton of refined meteor rock.' Lex built another 33.1 lab." Chloe says, "Wrong Luthor. According to all of these records, this was all Lionel." Liana says, "Construction started around the same time Lionel found out Clark's secret." Chloe says, "The department of water and powers said they turned the lights on for the first time two days ago." Liana says, "Lionel's been planning this kidnapping for months. And if these specs are accurate the place is built like Fort Knox." Chloe says, "We need Kara." Liana says, "Chloe, Kara can't help if she doesn't have her powers back." Chloe says, "Clark was on his way to the Fortress of Solitude to ask Jor-El for help. Now, maybe we can polar express Kara ourselves." Liana says, "The key, do you know how to use it?" Chloe says, "If we can get her out of the mansion, I can get her there." Liana says, "She wanted to move in with Lex. I don't think it'll be easy getting her to leave." Chloe says, "Lex probably quadrupled his security since she moved in. We won't be able to get past the mailbox." Liana says, "I'm think something a little more stealth. When Lana was married to Lex, he showed Lana these escape passageways he had built in case of another home invasion." Chloe says, "So use his secret way out to sneak in." Liana says, "One problem, you can only unlock the passageways from the inside someone has to be in the library in order to flip the master switch." Chloe looks past Liana at Jimmy and Liana follows her gaze. Later, Liana closes Chloe's trunk and says, "Lex likes to keep his women on a short leash." Chloe says, "Sounds more like a choke chain, if you ask me." They enter the car and Liana says, "Okay, the passageways open up onto a steep hill. It's pretty far off the road. It's gonna take us a while to climb up there." Chloe says, "If it means saving Clark, I'd climb Mount Everest." They then arrive at the mansion and walk into Kara's room. Kara looks at them and says, "What are you doing?" Liana says, "Kara. You have to come with us right now." Chloe says, "We'll explain everything later. Just trust us." Later, Kara saves Clark and he's home.
