The family spread, as fast as leaves blowing away in the air. Within a second, Carlisle and Anna were alone, still in the kitchen."So, you're the oldest?" Anna asked and Carlisle nodded, as he helped her get back to her feet.
"I'm afraid so," he said and smiled. "Let me show you around."
They went back to the living room and he pointed out other doors to different rooms. "There we have to lounge, our favourite place in the house."
"And why's that's?" When Anna looked at the big couch, she knew she'd drown in the pillows and cushions.
"I'll show you," Carlisle said and he opened the big, oak door for her.
"Looks like I've found the reason," Anna said and looked at the big piano standing in the center. Book shelves and a chess table were gathered and there was a gigantic view towards the woods. "Who plays?"
"Everyone can except for Bella. She's our youngest and for now, she just wants to finish school. Edward plays the most," he told her and Anna played a few tunes for fun. "Do you play?"
She saw the curiosity in his eyes, as if she was something he had never seen before. Turning away, Anna looked at the view, hoping he wouldn't notice her blush.
"No," she answered. "I always wanted to, but you know—money." She shrugged. "Dancing was more my passion."
"So I've seen."
Embarrassed Anna didn't say anything about that and just looked around once more. "So you used to live in Forks?"
Surprised he raised an eyebrow. "How do you know that?"
"I looked you all up," Anna confessed and smiled at him. "Through Bella Swan I could find out a lot about the mysterious Cullen family—which she became a part of in 2011."
"Well, I can see why my children are so intrigued by you," he said grinning and gestured for her to move along to see the rest of the house.
"They are?" Anna asked confused. "I'm just this ordinary human girl with no special powers. I mean, look at yourself. How can I intrigue hundred year old vampires?"
Carlisle chuckled and went ahead on the stairs. "We don't encounter humans that often who can interest us, Anna," he answered and looked over his shoulder. "We never see people like you."
"And I am interesting?" They stopped on the first floor and she hoped he wouldn't notice her racing heart—he was so close to her.
"Yes," he said and his eyes seemed to shine. "Very much."
"And do you?"
Carlisle didn't think it would be possible to feel heat, warmth, ever since he turned into a vampire. For the rest of his existence he had felt everything, except this heat spreading all through him.
If he had been able to blush, he would've. Harshly he swallowed, as her blue eyes could've scorched him on the spot.
"I do, Anna," he managed to say and heard her heart beat faster, a lovely humming on the background. "You're the most interesting to me."
"Why?" Such a simple question, he thought to himself, and yet it is so hard to answer.
He had to tell her. What she did to him. What he had overcome.
"Because..." he started, starting to feel uneasy. "You're the first person ever to test my gift."
An eyebrow crawled up on her forehead, he saw the confusion in her eyes. "Let's discuss this in my study," he said and gestured for her to walk down the hall.
