"Mum, this I why I said I didn't want to get involved in this shit." Harry paced across the room still wearing his scrubs, looking extremely out of place in the dark walled room. "Baby, it's not your fault." Harry groaned. "It is though. It is my fault. This is why I wanted to fucking save people but no, anyone. Anyone who comes anywhere near me dies." Anne stood up, pushing the chair back. "It wasn't your fault, Harry."

Harry spun round full force his hair coming out of its small bun slightly. "It is, I can't run from it. He's dead now and it's all because my family, my entire family is involved in the fucking mafia." He turned and smoothed his hands over the back of a dark oak chair. "I can't get away from it, can I?" He looked up to his Mum. "I can't." She smiled softly in hopes of giving him some sort of comfort. "Of course you can."

Harry shook his head. "How? Tell me. How. Because any way I seem to go it haunts me, even when Me, the first-born son goes off to be a paramedic, which is extremely ironic given the training I've had in the 'family profession' since I was five."

"Harry, you can always come back." It was a suggestion that weighted the air for a minute. "I don't know if it's a choice, Mum." She nodded. "Of course it is." "No, it's not. It's not, it hasn't ever been my choice. You knew I'd come back. 'It's in my blood' you said. 'Trained to kill' you said."

"It's family tradition."

"I was five."

She sighed. "Mum, I could kill someone by the time I was five, I could infiltrate a building by six, I can't get away from it, even Gemma got away from it because she didn't want to but I had to for some reason. Why does it feel natural to hold a blade? Why do I have the right, the skills to play god?"

"You were a natural Harry, we couldn't not train you."

"Of course you could, what gave you the right to play god with my life? My life?" She paused watching as a tear slipped down his face, the overwhelming wave of emotion pulling at him. "Harry the code." He pushed the tear away. "I don't want to kill people, I have to save them, I have to."

"You're the best in your field Harry, and you're young, they need their best agent on the board especially with the new killer in the Cowell gang, he's young and we can't keep up." Harry's brow furrowed. "Walsh has so many of us, we all trained, what happened to everyone?"

Anne paused. "Fray, Michael, James, and Josh are all gone, Harry." "What? Who killed them? They were top four after me." Anne shrugged. "The new kid, I think they call him Raven - code name of course. He appeared a few months ago."

"Fine, but on two conditions," she nodded "one, only until you find someone else" she nodded again, "And I get my suit back." "Oh, Harry not that stupid thing." Harry raised an eyebrow. "Does Walsh want me back in the field or not?"

She sighed "fine, but only if you prove you're still good enough to use it"

"Of course l am, I was trained to be, once a killer always a killer" She paused thinking over the words "it isn't like that Harry, you arent the villain here"

"I know I'm not a villain, but if you didn't want to make me feel that way then you shouldn't have treated me like an angel for taking people's souls, hopes dreams and heartbeats away from them"

Neither said anything

"Your killing angel reporting for duty Mum, hope you're proud" sarcasm dripped into the void of silence as the door shut between the two fractured hearts, that fractured for different reasons.
