The king's court all murmured to each other as they stood before the throne. Being summoned unexpectedly was quite a rarity. They waited for King Ryan to announce the reason for this gathering, but nothing happened.

Finally, Michael spoke out. "Why did you call us here today?" Quickly, he added a "King" after it, having the unsettling feeling that if he lacked in respect, it wouldn't be good.

"A very good question, Mogar." King Ryan stood from the throne and made his way down the steps to join the others. "If you'll follow me, I'll escort you to the field."

Uncertainly, the others trailed behind their king, a little off put by the ambiguity of the "field" King Ryan mentioned. Usually, all the fields were specified. Like the training field or the archery field.

Upon arriving, they realized why the area was left unnamed. It was an area no one had seen before.

"Now," King Ryan began, pulling them out of their stupors, "you'll notice a chest to your right. Open it, and you'll find a bow and plenty of arrows." Gavin was the first to cross over to the chest and confirm this. "And if you look into the field itself, you'll see a spawner." All of them turned their heads to see the aforementioned monster spawner.

"So let me explain what the goal of this little game is. This spawner is unique in the fact that it only spawns three skeletons at a time. And it spawns two at the same time to start. If too long passes without one of the two skeletons dying, it spawns the third skeleton. What I'll have you do is try to kill the two skeletons without dying yourselves; the third skeleton is pretty much a death sentence."

The guys looked at each other with unease. "No armor?" Ray asked.

        "No."

"And if I may ask, King," Geoff started, "how long will we be doing this?"

The King's answer chilled everyone to the bone.

"Until one of you is dead."

Nothing was stopping them from leaving. Running away would seem pretty easy, actually. Perhaps it was their own shock rooting them in place. Or maybe it was the unsettling atmosphere that suddenly lay heavily over them all. Only King Ryan seemed unaffected by it. "So!" King Ryan interjected cheerfully. "Who's going first?"
