Samantha's POV
There was yelling and things being thrown at the wall. Looking closely at the wall, it already had tons of small dents. Not the first time eh? I sighed and rubbed my temples. "I don't care about a pathetic human girl, Ethon. She can die for all I care." Morik gritted out. Oh shit.
I looked at Ethon who was starting to shake from even more anger. This was my time to step in before things went too far. I stood up from the chair I was seated in and walked over to Ethon who was about to launch himself at his father. It was a bit late though, instead of his father he crashed into me. My back hit the wall behind but it was occupied by 3 pouches of unidentified gas.
The gas spread through the air quickly as I fell to the floor. A choking sensation came over my body as I couldn't fight hard enough to breathe. "Sam!"
All I could hear was Ethon's yells and felt his arms wrap around me before I blacked out.

My senses came back to me one by one. Hearing first, the cries making my heart clench. My eyes slowly fluttered open to a bright light making me close them immediately. "Make that stupid light go away, God!" I croaked out. The lights spread on my eyelids lessened so I opened my eyes again. Ethon's worried and tear stained face coming to my sight.
"Sam? Are you alright?" he asked, wincing slightly. He looked buff and strong in reality but now he looks so damn vulnerable.
I tried to speak but nothing came out of my mouth, making me panic. No no no, this can't be happen. "Here, drink some water. I'll get the human expert." Ethon muttered before running out of the room. I hoped and prayed that this isn't permanent.
I drank the water, finishing it just as Ethon and another man entered the room. "Miss, I need you to tell me what's wrong." The man spoke. I slapped my forehead and gestured to my mouth.
"Oh! I understand what is going on. She's a human, yes?" He asked Ethon who nodded with a frown.
"The drug was too much for her and has damaged her voice, you shouldn't let her speak or make any sound from her mouth." The doctor said to Ethon before turning to me and saying, "You may use other means of communication, do not use your voice."
I gulped before turning to Ethon who looked guilty and worried at the same time. He handed me a glass and a small stick. "You can write on it with the light." He told me.
I found a bump on the stick and pressed it. A light turned on like a laser. Wherever it hovered on the glass, marks formed. I quickly learned how to use it and wrote the important thing on my mind. 'It is not your fault. I got in the way.'
I showed it to Ethon and he frowned. "It very well is, I hurt you. I hurt someone important to me." He whispered the last sentence but, I heard it well. I blushed and quickly wrote another sentence. 'I'm important to you? And don't worry i came in front of you plus you did not know.'
"Of course you are important to me, Sam. I told you my mind connected to you. It means something big in our tradition but, if I told you i'm afraid you'd run from me." He told, his features seemed tense. I was curious, I wanted to know what it means.
'What does it mean? Don't worry I would never run from you. Just tell me.' I wrote and showed him.
He sighed and stayed silent for a while before telling me something that left me shocked beyond words.
