so ngl i forgot if matthias (in this story) went to hellgate or not so we're just gonna say he hasn't andddddd add some angst ig

Matthias was sitting on his bed when he heard the knock on the door from downstairs. He heard Nina yell, "I got it!" before hearing the door open. Exchanged whispers, which drew Matthias from his room, heading downstairs.

"Be right back," Nina said, quickly walking to the stairs. She shook her head aggressively, waving him back up the stairs.

"Nina, what's going on?" Matthias asked, continuing down the stairs.

"Matthias— no— oh my god..."  Nina looked on the brink of tears. "I'm so sorry— I don't know who..."

"Mr Helvar." Someone said. A man in a black tie, like he was attending a funeral, stood there. Two men in full battle type gear stood behind him. The man seemingly had a cold demeanor. "You're under arrest."

"Nina..." Matthias turned to the girl, who was holding back sobs. "You.. told them?"

It wasn't anger. It was disbelief. Hurt.

"No, Matthias, I would never." She whispered. "I... I love you. »

Cuffs locked around his wrists now, he could only stare at her. He had no words. He couldn't find the urge to say any, or what to say.

"I love you Matthias."

"Sure you do, witch." The words rolled out unwillingly. Matthias internally grimaced, but stood tall and cold to the girl before him. "When I get out—"

"You won't." The man in funeral attire said. "Say your final goodbyes and let's go."

But Matthias said no goodbyes. He just followed Funeral Man out the house, fighting the urge to cry.
